Farewell Steve, thanks for all the memories and the entertainment you've provided to Hockey fans for over 20 years. A real gentleman and an exceptionally good hockey player.

Hope he stays in hockey in some capacity.

He's been there for all but the first couple seasons that I payed attention to the team, and for every game I've seen live or on TV. It's going to seem very odd not seeing #19 out there.

This is going to give away my age, but I was 4 years old when he came up with the Wings. I cannot remember a time when he was not "the captain".

Oh, I didn't mean he was the one good thing going for the Red Wings, I meant the city of Detroit in general and it was sort of tongue in cheek, kind of, in a way. The Red Wings I actually respect, great organization.
