Sim X Years

In OOTP 6.5, I could set all teams to be managed by the computer and have the computer play as many seasons as I want without my intervention.

In OOTPBB 2006, it says I must control a team. I am assuming I can start the game in commissoner mode and set all my teams functions to my staff. Will I then be able to have the game run multiple seasons without me needing to do anything?

What I am asking is will I be able to do the same thing as I did in OOTP 6.5.

Since it won't be using the Proceed to next season format anymore, I'd guess there might be some sort of Sim to date option?

I would like to see Team Control because I just want to do the Drafts for my team and the computer or A.GM do the rest of the moves for my team!

There's a sim to date X options, where you can set years in the future as well. So, yes. It works like in OOTP 6...

This is good news for those of us that want to sim 600 years while sleeping overnight. (being that the new game sims so much faster!)

That's great that this is still in there. I love starting new leagues in 1900 and simming till today, giving the league history, and character before I begin playing the worst current team and bringing them to a champion over five years.

Other times I pick the team I feel is weakest and don't sim anything from the beginning and create my own history.

One of the problems I had with the sim X years option in the past was that you had to start with the current year. You couldn't start, say in 1945 and sim to present day to get some history. I hope this was fixed in this version.

Curious..... How did you have that problem? I just created a new league, say in 1903, and let it run to 2005. Then I picked up the 2006 season with the most g-d awful in the league, and begin play from there.

Will it automatically import rookies? or do we have to import every year manually? makes it hard to do historical leagues that way

I once simulated the entire 100 years of World Series era baseball. 1903 - 2003 and I took over in 2004. Of course, you won't account for split season strickes and the 1994 WS Cancellation, but it works pretty good. And yes, sadly, you have to import rookies manually, unless someone knows a better way. That's what I did.

If I remember correctly, you have to manually import rookies each year. For those of us who would like to sim 100 years over night, this is no solution. I guess I should clarify. In past versions you couldn't sim prior history automatically without manual input. I hope this is fixed in this verion.

I think Markus was talking about fictional leagues and standard leagues you can sim x years. That work well on past versions.

But It will be nice if you can do that with historical leagues too and have it automatic import the new rookies without asking you every season to do so. That has never happen in past versions.
