You need to slow down man, you are already slurring your speech.

bibamus moriendum est btw means Let us drink, for death is inevitable

you see, bibamus is what we call a hortatory subjunctive to express an indirect command = "let", and the gerundive+est is a passive paraphrastic. Man oh man do I need to pick up MY pace.

If you want to make true a comparative adjective, you need to use the word "more". The suffix -r is not appropriate.

the Hortatory Subjunctive. Similar to the Optative in that it allows a main verb to be subjugated to express an idea that is not direct.

"But enough of this gay banter" ~thanks to Monty Python for that one.

"Truer" is in the OED, and that's good enough for me.

As actual vocabulary - "True, adj (truer, truest)..." I've only got the little paperback dictionary here though

Anyway, sorry for sidetracking things everybody. Please don't hurt me

Well I be damned. Well, it seems to make senes, what with true ending in a vowel and all. But anyway, to get back to topic, keep up the work Markus. Knock 'em dead.

"Never a truer word spoken" is perfectly legitimate usage.

Actually, I did ask you in post #30 concerning split-seasons http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...34#post1484734

but as you can see, it got lost in the shuffle.

Oh, and ignore whatever nonsense any self-appointed language experts try to sell you about it not being legitimate usage. Just look it up for yourself.

At dinner tonight I asked a journal editor if "Never a truer word spoken" was acceptable usage. She said that it certainly was.

So there, a true expert's opinion.

Depends on the league. Some specify that the team winning both halves gets a bye, others specify that the team finishing second in the division in the second half then qualifies, others specify that a wildcard team (a non-division winning team with the best overall record) then qualifies.

large - larger.

Generally speaking if a word is 1 or two syllables you add the r. 3+ you have a more.

And I vote for exploding universe too!
