Incidentally, along the lines of what theasfl mentioned, what I'd like to see rather than check boxes are percentages. That way, there would be a list, and you could assign % to each to determine the % of names generated from each list.

So, like this:

U.S. English - 75%
French - 10%
Italian - 10%
Russian - 5%
German - 0%

Just for example! It could have a "Set all to none" and "Balance all equally" button.

God news and bad news on name files. The good news is that the full set name file set (European, Hispanic, and Asian) is ready for alpha testing. The bad news is that I am having to go with the 2.0 version of the European name file set for now, as getting the frequencies right in the expanded European surname list (NAMES.DAT) list is *extremely* time consuming. So, given a choice between a lesser product being released for testing now or a perfect product being released for testing later, I have opted for a lesser product now. There will be a better and hopefully perfect NAMES.DAT file compiled and released later. This one does work and is better than the stock one, even if the frequencies aren't what they should be.

So, if you want to alpha test the name file set (it will replace your OOTP6 name files with substantially better sets, especially the Hispanic and Asian sets) PM me with your email address. Battists, you too.

It's an excellent idea. Once I get to the point where the files I'm collecting are at least 85% ready, I will post them on a web site somewhere and let you have at them.

I'm not certain how MD would feel about that for his files. I'll let him to respond to that.

Got some good feedback (thank you, Fidel), and version 1.3 of the Alpha will be out this weekend. Assuming the testers cooperate I am hoping to go to Beta late next week.

The testers really like the names being generated by the 1.3 Alpha set a lot as it is, so I am going use it for the first Beta. I will write up Beta documention for it and send Fidel the Beta set, and Fidel will host it on his site, and anyone interested can download it from and help with feedback to make it as good as it can be. The Beta will be up in a few days, and either Fidel or I will post a link here.
