Effect of retired.dat file on active players?
So, I downloaded AngelinOF's Hall of Fame retired.dat file and put it into my new league. Some strange things have been happening since then. Players with low p#'s (Pokey Reese, Tim Salmon) are disappearing and being replaced by the likes of Goose Gossage and Lou Boudreau. While this is an interesting novelty, it's also somewhat alarming, and not what I want.
In addition, when I import Pokey Reese from my Lahman database, he seems to be replacing an active player, as well. I have many players in my league, but not THAT many. Is it possible that the computer has decided that it's out of unique player numbers and has begun to recycle them? Is there anything that can be done about this? Other than "back up your league," of course, which I've already done. There may be incentive in it for anyone who can offer useful advice. My eventual goal is to have a league with full, 25-man minor league rosters that have ACCURATE service time for each player, rather than the randomly assigned ones that the computer gives to each newly generated player. (Alas, this will be for the start of the 2004 season. It's been kind of a labor of love for a long time now. Sorry if I got you needlessly excited.) |
