Does your in-game sound work

seeing the latest unofficial patch list, I was disappointed to see nothing addressing the sound crashes. The Support forum is overflowing with people having issues with it and I am wondering exactly how widespread this problem is

If a small minority is having this problem then I guess we will never see a patch for it, but if there are quite a few people having this problem then perhaps some more attention could be paid to it.

PS - Please don't post suggestions to "fix" it such as disabling and then enabling sound, direct 3d, or changing screen resolution, turning off AV, buying a new $2000 computer - I have done all of those and some and still am having the problem. ABout the only fix I haven't tried that i think might work is downgrading from SP2 but I am really not interested in doing that.
