Slow Sim Speed

Has anyone else had trouble with the sim speed? When I sim a day it can take almost 5 minutes to finish simming. I have a top-of-the-line computer with hardly anything in the background. It takes 2 hours to sim a year! I remember when OOTP4 was soooo fast.

Hmmm. I run OOTP6.11 on two separate computers. My smaller, older computer runs a season in about 17 minutes to 20 minutes. 120MB RAM 800Mhz.

My bigger computer, 1GB Ram, 3Ghz, runs a season in a little less time but not much faster. Sometimes I notice a speed-up during a full season sim where the games are blinking by in the top, right corner and then suddenly they start screaming by so fast that I can't read them. I'm not sure why, but OOTP6 has a few gears that I don't think we can control. It may depend on if you're simming minor leagues and what options you have enabled. Also, how many teams are playing in your league.

I have a very fast computer. It sims quickly but I did notice I get "lag" when clicking on screens. When I click on a player's name, or any of the the links in the game it can take it a second or two to change screens. Odd because my weaker laptop doesn't have this problem.

Also turn off anti-virus software, but only after you've used it to clean your virus software.

Turning off anti-virus is the key to all your problems.

How much RAM do you have? Have you run scandisk, defrag, etc recently? How much free HD space do you have and what OS?

Hmmm....no anti-virus software? Maybe you have a virus. These days you should really have anti-virus software to protect yourself. I use NORTON and don't have any problems running the game with it. I would purchase some anti-virus software and make sure your computer is clean.

Do you have any other problems with speed? Have you run spyware detectors lately?

You might also want to check your system for Adware/Spyware, if you haven't already.

What version are you using. One of the patches caused a big slow down, but this was corrected with the newer patches. You should make sure you have the most recent patch.

I duuno, other than talking to fast typing to fast, and the occasional ticks, I don't think I have a speed problem.
