question about Photoshop

Well, I am very interested in trying out Defts Templates as they look very promising. The problem is, I can't afford $650 for Photoshop and the 30 day trial certainly won't be enough for what I am looking to do. Does anyone know of a more affordable image editor that can read photoshop files and works similarly to Photoshop?

Paint Shop Pro will allow you to do many things that Photoshop does, not sure but at one time I was told that Paint Shop Pro was by the same company, a light version of Photoshop.

Just checked at the Jasc site http://www.jasc.com/products/ you can get Paint Shop Pro for $103 for version 9. I first got Paint Shop Pro 5, and have upgraded about every other year from the company, they charge about $50 to upgrade. Corel is indeed also very good, but I think the price is higher.

looks like I'll go with Paintshop Pro then. Thanks again for the responses guys. While $100 is still a little steep for a cheapskate like me, it's alot better then $640! So I think I''ll be investing in PSP .
