Deft - Bobble etc.... re:facegen
Heya,
I'm absolutely LOVING the uniform and head packs you guys have been making! I'd like to make some head packs in return.... but I'm having trouble figuring out facegen. No matter what I do... the facegen program doesnt display any skin texture. (hi-res OR lo-res). It generates faces... but the skin is a bizarre mesh of bright colors. Changing to "smooth" or any of the other texture options doesnt help with this. Maybe my computer doesnt have the RAM to run the program correctly??? Maybe I have to change my graphics settings? I have tried just about everything I can think of... no luck. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Rich |

I haven't run into this. My first thought is that maybe your display settings in Windows are 16 bit and it's looking for 32 bit. Is it just the face picture that's screwy? Bad download, maybe? If you dig in behind the scenes, those skin textures are really .bmp files in a subdirectory. You might check them out outside the program and see if they're corrupted.
This from the Facegen site: The color texture on the face looks strange or checkered Check that your display is set to "True Color" (24 or 32 bit) mode. Some systems will not render properly in "High Color" (16 bit) mode. Select 'Display' from the 'Control Panel' (in 'Start Menu' -> 'Settings') and choose the 'Settings' tab. Re-start FaceGen Modeller. Those are my feeble ideas. Let's see if someone knowledgeble can help ...

Glad you' re enjoying it. I have had a lot of people ask about the front facing template. Do you guys prefer that? If so I could relook into making it have the same options as the angled picture.
Updated my signature for anyone interested in the hat template and front facing template. An example of the hat template is in my avatar.

Great work Deft. I'm using some photos in my dynasty to make it more lively and colorful. Thanks.

I loaded the program with tweak all open.. and watched the "available memory" tab drop really quickly down to 0! Oh well.. something to look forward to when I get a new computer....... Thanks again to everyone who has worked on uniform templates and heads.. I'll definitely be using them. (attached image of what the facegen faces look like in my facegen) |

Bummer. Bummer for you and bummer for us. I was hoping for some new contributions to the pile of heads we already have.

Some good news!
I re-installed my graphics card drivers and got the facegen working!
I already made my first batch of 20 faces... which are probably kinda boring - but maybe not bad for a first effort. For the next batch I'll use the hair/mustache/beard etc templates. Does anyone still want to host this facegen facepack file? Rich |
