FYI - I recenty watched a YouTube demo comparing the aI functions
of Elements which I've been using and 2 other products. One of which I was so impressed with I purchased credits for 200 images. Like elements though the uniform colors and details sometime need to be adjusted by hand. This is only a smaller sample I downloaded which does not cost a credit but does contain the software logo. |

Wid Matthews 1923
Quote:
Attached is an image for Wid Matthews with the 1924 Washington Senators. His career got off to a highly promising start becoming the lead-off batter and starting centre-fielder in his debut year with the 1923 Philadelphia Athletics. However subsequent to that his career comprised of 2 years with the Senators as a back-up outfielder. |

Thanks for sharing this. It's always good to find out about new resources. I've been happily using palette.fm for the last several months but this looks like another great app to have in the toolbox. The attached is from a black & white Vic Janowicz print offered by trademarksportscards on ebay. I ran it through kolorize.cc and did not change any of the colors....if I was making a final shot, I would add yellow borders around the jersey letters but other than that, this is pretty impressive. For what it's worth, there is a workaround for getting a full size shot without using a credit. See the youtube video by PIXimperfect here. The video was done for palette.fm but the same technique was used with the kolorize.cc shot I posted here. The blue grass in the bottom left is the bleedthrough from the logo. There are ways to get around that but I didn't bother since this was just a quick test. |

Hal Mauck 1893
Wikipedia credits the source of the image as the 1889 Danville Browns, see post 28692 by cinemaodyssey. Extracted from a Library of Congress composite, of which a colorized version has been authored, unfortunately I am unable to credit the colorizer. The team was managed by Harry Smith. Harry Smith, debut 1877, is a missing player and was active playing for Louisville in the Majors in 1889. The middle initial of this Harry Smith does not match that believed to belong to the missing player. J. Fogerty appears to resemble prominent Major Leaguer Jim Fogarty. Baseball Reference lists him as Jack Fogarty, they were both born in San Francisco but 5 years apart identicating a potential family connection. Cinemaodyssey also identified the player listed as Root as Fred Roat.

Del Lundgren 1924
Another impeccable outcome in respect of the Matthews image, very much appreciated.
Right hander, Del Lundgren made his Major League with the 1924 Pittsburgh Pirates appearing 8 times with one start and one decision. He reappeared two years later with the Red Sox for a 2 year stint. Here he is from 1924. |

It seems more likely the grey stripes in the team pick were more likely the mustard color as in
that logo above. |

1889 Danville Browns
Here is a black and white version of the composite if you are thinking of applying your suggested color scheme to either the whole team or just the Major Leaguers. You may have located a better version.

I don't have any pics of that team at all. Looking at the first image on a cellphone had me mistakenly thinking the darker stripes were already colored brown. I'll leave it to the artists on this thread to work on this as I don't want further step on Krantz's thread.

Del Lundgren 1924
Ebin Delmer Lundgren colorized with the Boston Red Sox. Image was found on SABR. I upgraded it with Deepnostalgia.ai and experimented with kolorize.cc for colors.

Bill Bayne 1919
Wow, absolute top top quality outcome in respect of the Pirates Del Lundgren image!
Yes, I also think that the collaboration has been highly constructive and worked very well and thank you for the bonus Lundgren. Yup, I think the stripes are brown too but perhaps the matching color is more on the grey side rather than mustard. Left handed pitcher Bill Bayne made his Major League debut with the 1919 St. Louis Browns and ended his 5 year career with them in 1924, here is an image of him from that final year. He then returned to the Majors with the 1928 Indians and finished with a 2 year stint with the Boston Red Sox. Appeared in 199 games but only 55 as a starter. Reached double figures in wins in 1921 his most impactful season. Posted a 11-6 while completing 6 of his 14 starts. Tailed off to a 1-3 record in 1924. On his return in 1928 reached in excess of 100 innings for his second and final time. Last edited by UKBaseballfan; 02-04-2025 at 03:12 AM. |

Hal Mauck 1893
Here is an attempt at Hal Mauck with brown uniform. I upscaled UKBaseballfan's version, running it through Deepnostalgia.ai and hand colorized.
