Here is a colorized image of the team photo. The player previously identified as Dickerson is wrong, the player is Hall of Famer Mickey Welch.

Top Row

Cogswell, Cassidy, Evans, Ewing

Middle Row

Gillespie, Hankinson, Ferguson, Caskin, Connor

Ground

Welch, Holbert

What happened to the eyes???

Anyways thank you for identifying the guy in the front as Welch. I had seen this one labelled as Dickerson in just about every source but never thought it looked like him. It would seem that this particular team photo had a lot wrong with the initial identifications.

Ed Cogswell 1879

The Worcester team photo of 1882 provides further evidence to question the height listing of Cogswell on B-R. Cogswell is 2nd from right in the top row. Immediately to his right is George Creamer listed at 6'2" and at the extreme left of the back row is Lee Richmond listed at 5'10". Cogswell appears to be taller than Richmond.

Good find on this, it would certainly seem that Cogswell's height listing is incorrect. I'm still not sure 100% on the face comparison between Cogswell and the mystery player but here is a comparison. For me it's the significant difference in the nose that really stands out to me. The nostrils look too different and the guy on the left has a much shorter nose.

The shape of the faces look similar. So does the right ear. The nose may look different do to camera angle.

I agree that the head shape looks similar, normally I use the ears for reference but the ear is so distorted its hard to tell for me. Cogswell's left ear is not visible to compare to the other guy's left one which is not distorted. I think this player is likely Cogswell, but I think it could also be Lawlor and we don't know Tobin's height. I think the Tobin pics that UK Baseball Fan provided have a similar nose but the ears look too different to be this guy. We have no Lawlor images to compare.

I hadn't seen that colorized version of the Troy team before. I couldn't resist touching up some of the areas could use touching up. Question - Are the players in thefront wearing socks that seem to only go up to the shoe top? It looks it to me,
Oddly Holdbert center right seems to have a high sock on his left foot only.
I assume the object in front of him to his right is an early catcher's mask? Holbert was a catcher at times.

That colorized image was posted on Twitter by John Blumer and looks to be colorized by some crappy AI program, likely Dall-E if I had to guess given that the socks, faces, and colors all around fade out in a strange manner, and also if you zoom in on the faces...... I don't know why given that there are far better programs out there that work much better for this sort of thing.

Here is a good quality version of the original team photo, posted by John Thorn but I can't seem to find a high quality one where the guys in the front row's legs aren't cut off so I included a lesser quality one that shows the whole picture.

Also is it just me or does the Troy team photo look like it could have been another one of those pics where they all poked their heads out of cutouts of a drawing? I know this method was used for the 1876 Louisville Grays team photo and probably more too.

Yes, not all the players, but it very much appears to me that the Holbert head is somewhat larger than those of the others.

Outstanding colorization of Cadore, thank you.

Here is a 1924 image of Tom Sheehan with the Cincinnati Reds.

Wrongly attached a 1925 image instead of the 1924 image I intended thanks to infieldfly for picking this up.
