Ed Farmer 1971
The same dealer also doubled the number of known color images of Ed Farmer, who faced exactly two batters in his one career appearance with the Baltimore Orioles in 1977 (I took the other one, which, like this, was evidently taken in Spring Training, 1978).

Images with the Orioles of this backup outfielder aren't rare - but those from after he rejoined the team in 1973 (in the double knit era) are. This is clearly from Spring Training, 1974, at old Miami Stadium.

eBay seller dr.jteeee has a photo for sale, advertised as The Big A ANAHEIM STADIUM Hank Aaron which also shows Brewers teammate Darrell Porter. More interesting to me, however, is the scoreboard in the background, showing news of three player sales which would be voided shortly thereafter. The bulletins allow us to date the photo to 15-Jun-1976, at or just after 6:00 p.m.

He technically belongs in the minor league thread, but since he managed to get on a Topps rookie card with an airbrushed Cleveland cap, here is an actual image of this pitcher in his Indians togs at Spring Training 1972.
They've previously posted negatives of him with the Giants and have done so again as well. |

Obscure utility infielder of the '80 White Sox, '84 Giants, and '86 Indians. Topps - which put him on a 1981 rookie card - has conveniently posted images of him with the first two clubs though sadly not with the third.

A couple of interesting career minor leaguers in major league garb were also uploaded today. I'm putting them in the minor league thread.
BTW the shot above of Gene Alley cannot be from 1963 no matter what number he's wearing. It's taken at Shea Stadium, which opened a year later. |
