Very very long time issues in 2D
Hopefully, these very, very, very long time issues will be part of the upcoming 2D fix (for custom games):
1) Ice-time settings in "Lines". Specifically setting the ice time distributions in the PP and PK screens. No matter what %'s you set for PP1 / PP2 in the "Lines" screen, PP1 unit always gets about 90% of the ice time. 2) RFA offer sheet signings. This never works properly. I never get any picks when another team signs my RFA after the RFA rejects my contract. 3) Teams trading their first round pick multiple times. 4) Excessive shot totals by D-Men. 5) Schedule Maker schedules way, way, way too many back to backs. My current season, I have 25 Back to Back scenarios. That's 50 games of 82 that are back to back. My season start date is October 4th, and last day of season is April 7th. Without an all star break, that should be enough time to fit an 82 game season in, without so many back to backs. The real NHL season (from Oct. 8th to April 17th) is only one week longer, but has that "4 Nations Tournament" break, so it's comparable to my custom league. Should be able to fit the 82 games is a normal schedule. For some reason 2D is always at the bottom of the fix list. But this is getting ridiculous. I don't change any settings other than setting 2D for my league and classic for the rest. I know 2D my team, classic for the rest might make those goal totals better but I shouldn't have to use 2 sim engines in the same league since each has different nuances and makes it harder to compare my team's performance with the others in the league. |

Agreed. Definite bump.
Also sort out the blocked shots issue. Blocked shots are shown as on aplayers defensive stats page but they in fact are shots that the player has attempted, blocked by the opposition. Shots blocked by a player seem more important to my thinking. On the NHL website the former are called attempts blocked (A/B) the latter shots blocked. Also PBP could be much more informative and immersive for those of us who like to play out games and get a "feel" for the players, particularly in custom leagues. |

The PP and PK percentage settings aren't intended to produce exact time splits matching the selection, just indicate the approximate relative frequency of each unit's use. Because the circumstances, timing and duration of power plays are uncertain, the only effective ways to get an exact match would be to force the game to do unrealistic things like using tired players without regard to fatigue or changing lines at inappropriate times just to try to balance the icetimes. The game will always prefer the first unit when deciding which one starts a power play, all other things being equal (which they rarely are, due to player fatigue.) The higher a percentage that non-first unit lines are assigned, the weaker that preference will be.
I'll check the RFA operation for custom leagues, I'm not sure why that's not working but it may be that the compensation data isn't set up correctly. We've been trying to find the cause of picks being traded multiple times, but have had no luck so far. I'm making some changes to the 2D shot distribution in the next update, although it's not as simple as just making defencemen shoot less; the problem also involve shot frequency from different ranges and defenceman positioning in the offensive zone; that latter in particular is complicated to adjust. The schedule maker is unlikely to get any major changes soon. Doing that will probably require a large redesign, which is not something we have time for right now. |

It looks like it's actually the shot location display in 2D that has it backwards - it's showing the shooter as the blocker and vice-versa. The BS column is OK. We'll get the tooltips fixed in the shot display.
