Promoting Coaches From Within

If my manager controls hiring hitting, pitching and bench coaches, why can I offer a contract to an available personnel but cannot promote within? I don't understand the logic behind that. Furthermore, is there a way to add a legacy-mode setting similar to how GMs can handle lineups instead of the manager, but for hiring coaches?

If I understand your question correctly, I believe you can do this from the Team Personnel tab... click on the "Available Actions" on your coach of preference and select Appoint As...

You cannot the game blocks if out of the manager/bench coach has control and there is no option to turn this off like with lineups

In the Angels picture, the manager controls hitting, bench and pitching coaches, so no coaches can be promoted to those positions. In the Tigers picture, the manager only control the hitting coach, so a coach could be promoted to pitching or bench coach. In both situations, the team could still hire from the available personnel to any of the hitting/bench/pitching coach position, though.

Oh yeah, sorry, that was a bug. If the mgr is in control, the rules for promotion or hiring direct should be the same.

Apologies for not putting this in the bug report forum. If/when it is changed, will we not be able to hire a pitching/batting/bench coach to the major league level if the manager has control or will we be able to promote within. If it's the former, can there be a legacy-type setting to overrule the manager control over coaches?
