Go to Page 1028/Section 20541 for a really outstanding photo of Bobby Young in his brief time with the Phillies (from Merkle923). (I haven't seen him with many photos of him as a Phil since he was with the team for only about half a season.) The below photo does have some historical interest, however. Young appeared with the Phillies for the first time on June 22, 1958 and was with the team for the rest of the season.
He was on the team's 40 man roster for the following season and this photo appeared in the team's 1959 Year Book. It seems like a spot was open for him on the bench for the '59 Phillies, however, Young decided to retire during Spring Training at age 34.
He hit .249 lifetime and was a regular for 4 seasons in a decade-long MLB career (1948-1958). He was the regular second baseman of for the last St. Louis Browns team (1953) and the first Baltimore Orioles team (1954).

Sorry, my collection only goes up to through the 1975 season. If you or anyone else has a quality image of Jesse Jefferson from the White Sox wearing the red pinstripes (posed knee high not action or head shot) I would love to have it too. Also trying to locate a same style image of Larry Gura in the Yankees pinstripes.

Thanks for all the time, pics and energy that it took to fill my requests this past year. I especially enjoy all the scarce pics that have come to light this past year like the A's Don Shaw pic. I knew he had been on the team but I NEVER saw a pic...the same with Dick Selma with the Brewers...thanks a million.


Would someone have a colored Topps Vault or equal of the 1974 A's Jim Holt. He had an important pinch hit in the 1974 WS. I'm still working on the 1971 & 1974 sets for MVP Baseball 2005 for myself and "MVP Mods". I prefer the arcade style versus the managerial style but who knows maybe when I can't play the arcade ones anymore. If someone has a request for a player in the 70's to early 80's and can't find it , maybe I can help you.
