				More Fritsch...

Joe Law, A's, 1988 - Law was called up on July 5th from Tacoma along with Rich Bordi when Dave Parker and Eric Plunk were placed on the DL. He was sent back down either later that same day or the next in exchange for Jeff Shaver. He was called back on 8/8 when Jim Corsi was sent to Tacoma but was sent back down on 8/10 in exchange for Curt Young. He never saw any action.

				On and on with Fritsch...

I had not been able to locate any images of Rich Gossage in or around the time of his brief 11-game stint with the Yankees in 1989 - this purports to be an image from 1989.

				NOT Marty Bergen

I seen a lot of people also use this image on a few sites but this is NOT the baseball player Marty Bergen. It appears to come from an 1895 newspaper and it's actually a jockey who had the same name as him so be careful.

				Tom Edens Mets 1987

Tom Edens was a rather obscure right handed reliever of the late 80s and early 90s. Edens came from Oregon and was drafted in HS by the Phillies in 1979 but didn't sign. He was drafted again in 1983 out of Lewis-Clark College by the Royals in the 14th round and went to the Mets in 1984 in exchange for veteran infielder Tucker Ashford. Edens didn't have super control but the Mets brought him up in '87 when a rash of injuries hit their pitching staff and he made his MLB debut shortly before his 26th birthday. Edens worked only 8 big league innings for the Mets, posting a 6.75 ERA before going back down to the minors. In 1989 Edens went to the Phillies as part of the deal for Juan Samuel, a trade which more or less marked the end of the fine Mets team of the late 80s. Edens worked thereafter for the Brewers, Twins, Phillies and Cubs without ever setting the world on fire, finishing with career numbers only just above replacement level. Edens has been a missing Met for a very long time, but the Fritsch postcard collection just posted him.

Managed to find a highlights clip from the one game he appeared in this year on YouTube, from which this was the best screen shot I could get.

				Mark Wasinger Padres 1986

Mark Wasinger was a native of Monterey, California. The Padres drafted him in the third round in 1982 out of Old Dominion in Norfolk, Va. Wasinger performed well in the minors, stopping at Reno, Beaumont, and Las Vegas; he had a good OBP and hit enough doubles to rank well in slugging percentage. Wasinger was initially a second baseman, adding third base in 1985. The Padres brought him up in midseason '86 but sent him back down after he played just three games and went hitless in 9 AB. In April, 1987, the Padres traded Wasinger to San Francisco. He spent much of that season with the Giants and got another brief cup the following year, but then the Giants traded him to the Indians and he never got back to the major leagues. This newspaper photo is the first and so far only image I have seen of Wasinger as a Padre.

				Marty Bergen - 1896

If we don't have enough Marty Bergen photos, here's another. It's from the 1899 Chickering Boston Beaneaters Cabinets set.

				Could this be Tim Keefe?

I found the 1878 Clinton club's team photo recently to use for reference in my email to BR about removing the woodcut of Joe Quinn from Paddy Quinn's page and noticed this player labeled as 'Keefe' in the picture. He's listed as a center fielder but I was told that Tim Keefe was on that club at one point prior to his major league career.
