I have crossed the line from what I know to what I know I don't know. I know I am getting stupid because I am failing to ID some images that are so totally familiar to me. PLEASE take me off the hook: I talked myself out of the last one being Momboquette; Cubs guys is laughing at me because I'm sure I knowhim.... Last edited by rico43; 05-24-2015 at 12:15 AM. |

Guess I was right with my instincts. Should have known Neeman, but that is by far the best photo I've seen of Muffett. One of his grouping was taken as exactly the same time as Monbo's 1963 Fleer card. As for the Ranger, I've felt like I've tried all the tricks. Obviously not. |

				Four More for the Experts

Four more stumpers and I will bow out, wishing all a happy holiday. This is a stubborn guy in the HW (623) whose name mightstart with a'W'. Three from the stagnant and fragmented HF file: This guy's HF 486, might have an 'H' name: HF 548 and HF 916 |

The Angel is Charlie Williams...who, I am guessing, must have been a NRI to big league camp before a release since he never played for their org. in the regular season

				Charlie Williams
			 Quote:
"Willie Davis and Charlie Williams, a pair of veterans trying to hold on for one more season, have been invited to spring training camp by the California Angels." In the transactions report published 28-Mar-1979 it was succinctly noted: "Charlie Williams, who had been working out with the Angels, was sent home."

All minor leaguers. The Rangers' lefty is Ken Esposito (1973, I believe) The Twin is catcher John Lonchar (circa 1977) The Oriole is the singular Chet Trail (1969) whose unique position in baseball history is that, thanks to the old "first year player" rule, to not risk losing him if they tried to send him down, the Yankees had to keep on the major league roster throughout 1964 - and was actually made eligible for the World Series even though he'd been back home for a month. Trail never played a major league game, never even sat on the bench during one. |
