My team is always last

I want to know if I'm missing something. I edit the lineups and pitching staff and the beginning of the season and injuries are off and then I sim the whole season. Yet every year I have the worst team in the league by a long shot. Is there something else I also have to edit?

Are you doing anything to upgrade the team? Drafting solid players? Making trades or free agent claims?

Just setting your lineups with the same players isn't going to do much if those players are not producing.

No offense but, maybe your team is just bad.

I've simulated entire seasons at a time before and finished way behind the pack also. But I've also finished at the top and in the middle, usually depending on the talent of my players.

I definitly draft solid players because I get the first pick every year. I'm not sure what is good in this game since I just got it but tell me what you think.

5 stars is the max. Blue stars are prospects, who need to develop into experienced players, who are gold stars. What ratings scale are you using?

Stars suck. Stats are a much better indicator.

Do you have good coaches and/or scout? I have found that having a good hitting and pitching coach is worth twice what you pay them. Also, try to acquire good young prospects for your best players now, it will pay off in the long run.

Good Luck!

I sure wish pulling teeth were a quicker process...

Perhaps some managerial tendencies conflict with the talent on your team?

How many seasons have you ended up in last?

I started the league in 1901 and we've been in last through 1907.

For pitchers, check WHIP (walks and hits per inning pitched) and ERA. Also, look for a high number of K's (Roger Clemons) or low BABIP (Greg Maddux).

For batters, OPS (on-base plus slugging) is your best indicator. Total studs will be over 1.000, but a good player is in the .750 to .850 range.

One of your financial problems could be that your fan interest is so low and you haven't adjusted your ticket price down from $10 causing you to not maximize your gate receipts.

Also, instead a simming an entire season do it by weeks or months and make some changes along the way with promotions, demotions and trades. Since you are so low below the cap, you could make a trade for a good player with a higher salary and popularity and run in the red (since you are anyway) and that trade for a popular player will increase fan interest, increase attendance, increase revenue, etc.

You may want to edit the cost of your promotion days. They are really too high in cost to have a positive impact. Edit the cost and only use them on weekends when you have the biggest crowds, again, to maximize attendance, revenue, etc. If you win that game, fan interest will usually increase as well. I edited them to be $25k for the cheapest, $50k for all the other ones except knodding Head doll day which is $75k.

Whenever you make a trade, try to get some cash as well. Almost every 1-for-1 deal can get an additional $99,999 out of the other team which will increase your ability to possibly sign some free agents.

Try these and see if it helps at all. Good luck!

Very sneaky. I never tried that.

I did some trading. I traded for the league leader in BA, HR, RBI, and OPS. (3 different guys) But as soon as they join my team they slump and lose their lead. What's up with that.
