Hopkins vs. Taylor on for sure
I just saw the press conference for Hopkins vs. Taylor on max boxing. Now hopefully this fight is on for sure id like to hear everyones opinion. I think Taylor might have been better off waiting for Hopkins to go away and then claiming his title i think it might be too soon for Taylor but I still think he has a great chance to win due to his natural ability and confident attitude.

Should be a very interesting fight - Everyone has to give Hopkins all the credit in the World - He doesn't need "this" fight at all!! -
It does nothing for him in the big overall picture - If he wins everyone will say Taylor was too "green", etc, etc, etc - Lots of props to Hopkins for taking it - Not sure who I'm going with yet - Old Lions always fall sometime - This could be perfect timing for Taylor - But my gut is still sticking with Hopkins for now - |

I could be wrong, but...
I can't help thinking about what Roberto Duran did to Davey Moore. Moore had power, energy, aggression... etc. He wound up eating leather until he was stopped and was basically never the same again. Taylor could be walking in his footsteps. I don't see Hopkins as the type of fighter who will suddenly "lose it" in one night. I see a gradual decline - as was the case with Hagler and Duran.

I saw the pic of Taylor & Hopkins standing face to face. Taylor looked a little bigger - 1st time I can recall Hopkins looking eye to eye or even up to an opponent. Seems like it's a better deal for Taylor. He's the young guy & unless Hopkins just beats the stuffing out of him, he should claim some belt down the line. If he wins, he beats a legend & it's even better for him. For Hopkins, he's facing a tough, young, big guy & if he beats him, some will ask: Who's Taylor? But if Hopkins wins, he'll be expected to & some will say, so what? |

Did anyone else sense that there was a little bit of doubt in Hopkins voice in his recent interview. He just didnt seem like himself to me maybe because he isnt comfortable being the show but idk didnt seem like the calm Hopkins of old.

I thought Hopkins looked vulnerable vs Eastman, and slower...

I think if Taylor comes to the fight un-intimidated, and lets it all hang out...he can beat Hopkins...but he can't respect Hopkins in there, he's gotta go for it...

I'll be rooting for Taylor in there, because I just don't find B-Hop to be that entertaining.
That being said, my prediction, as of right now, is that B-Hop will win a fairly easy unanimous decision and walk off into the sunset.

Pitt: You think he won't fight again after Taylor? No Trinidad rematch? |

Eric will probably have the up-to-date rumours after the fight, so we shall see. Off topic here: I've visited that site he haunts and I can't stand it! Seems as though the 15 and under crowd run the show. If you think his writing is incomprehensible, go lurk around those boards. Yikes!

I used to want to see a rematch of Hopkins vs Trinidad... but not so much any more. My thinking is, Hopkins already proved he's a better fighter than Trinidad. The first fight wasn't really close at all. It was exciting, but not close in terms of rounds won or scoring.
Trinidad can't outbox Hopkins... so the only question is; is Hopkins finally old enough and worn enough to get caught with a big knockout shot. My guess is, that will only happen when he's shot... and I don't think he's shot yet. Styles make fights, though. And I think Taylor's style is perfect for Hopkins to exploit as Davey Moore's was with Duran. Jim Last edited by Jim_Kidd; 05-04-2005 at 07:48 PM. |

As far as Hopkins goes, I see him fighting Taylor again if he loses. The winner of Trinidad/Wright if he wins. Maybe the winner of Johnson/Tarver. |

I think if Hopkins losses he should retire and leave the division to Taylor but if he wins then he should fight Trinidad and if he wins that fight whoever he wants as long as he can beat the top guys he can stay around forever. We have seen he would rather take the best fight over the money by fighting Taylor instead of a name.

Bernard Hopkins is much more artful than the Taylor. Executioner will win by TKO in round-8. The EXECUTION will come. |

Whatever Hopkins does eventually it will have to come to an end Andre Ward is down at Middleweight now does anyone think Taylor and Ward may hook up in a couple years to fight for the Middleweight crown or do you think neither one of them will stick around in the division long enough to see that happen
