Somebody has to say it: Francona is worse than Little
This guy is really sucking things up. This may be blasphemy, but I'd rather still have Grady than this guy. The Phillie folks were right.
EDIT: My pathetic spelling abilities strike again. Last edited by fat dude; 07-16-2004 at 01:07 PM. |

What's he doing wrong?
Most of the complaints I've read about him involve his handling of the bullpen, and he's the only manager in baseball who actually seems to have a clue in that area. Using his closer in tied games or games where the Sox are losing by 1-2 runs, i.e. when he's most valuable.

I don't know, Francona seems pretty popular with the New York fans.

From what I've heard, he's less a manager than a cheerleader. Epstein dictates the lineups and rotation, and he's not allowed to bunt or steal within that system, so what does he actually do?

Pedro had 7 days rest for last night. And he could have pitched against the Yankees. Instead we start the second half with Lowe (and get shelled), and Pedro misses the Yankees. The worst part is his response when asked about this. "OK, so what's your point?" What a butt.

The ever shifting public view of baseball managers.
Except I will say that I'm glad Grady Little didn't come to the Phillies. |

My faith in the ability of Red Sox fans to find something to moan about, despite finally winning a World Series, has been restored.
