#5 and #7 used almost similar colors. I don't think they were done by the same person either. That is interesting.

Sorry, but what is the point of these contests? Logo 1 can hardly be read in this poll, I put it in the game and maybe I have poor eyes, but it is unreadable in almost every screen. Good concept, but at this size its not workable in the game. But then again it is the top vote getter so maybe a logo suitable for the game isnt the point of the contest.

I was wondering the same thing NMLeague. I want a logo that can be used in the game and there are several of them, but they aren't getting votes.

I would imagine the voting is based on the best-looking logo for some, the best working logo in the game for others, and a combination of these two for the rest. |

People are just to vote for the one/ones they like best...period. IMHO, since these logos were meant to be used in OOTPB, they should show up well in the game...meaning the Main Game Screen where you play out your games. I would prefer that to be a part of the judging process...but it wasn't and I am not going to worry about it...I rate logos that show up well in the game higher than the ones that do not...that is, if all other things are equal. When I request a logo, I always ask that it show up well on the game's midsized screens and not be "true black"...Almost all of the designers that have been so kind to create my logos have accommodated those requests. The last time I saw a poll, it showed 50% of the OOTPB players...maybe even a little more are total simmmers...they are not concerned with graphics the way the ones who play out all or a portion of their games are...they are not into logos, photopacks, and stadiums...nothing wrong with that...but I think they are judging these logos for the way that look at this size (150 x 150) and voting on that...the ones who want a logo to show up well in the game are in the minority...so you are going to be outvoted. In addition we all have different tastes...what I like and what someone else likes can be totally different. Bottom line...nmleague...try to accept the fact that most voters don't care if it shows up well in the game and don't worry about it. You will be less frustrated that way.

I guess I have been under a misconception that the contest was to design logos to be used in the game. Can't understand why, this is an OOTP forum and the logos aren't going to be used for real life teams, maybe people will use these for a fanasty baseball team. Now that it is clear I will not worry about it, if that is the case then I really see no point in the contest nor will pay attention to it. Im leaving for vacation on Monday and would have missed the next two anyway. But I will continue to post logos in a seperate thread, trying to do logos that fit well into the game. I enjoy doing logos and it is kind of a hobby that is contributes to the OOTP community. The competition isnt important, but when I see the entry that is the least readable in the game getting many more votes than 13 other much clearer readable logos, I think thats a shame. This wasn't my favorite team name and I think there are at least 5 other logos entered that are better than my entries, but none of them are getting the top votes.

I'm not sure who entered logo #1, I'm sorry you have been caught up in this ongoing question of whether the logos entered should be judged on how they work in the game. I for one think your idea is very clever. If the logo size was 300x300 or larger I think it would look and work much better in the game, for the 150x150 size it just doesn't work.

#2, #4, and #14 were my votes... I would have voted for #1, but it just doesn't show up well. Brilliant idea, though.

#12 isnt getting as much love as it should because of all the youngsters on this forum. its a WWII torpedo bomber and Pres. Bush Sr. was a pilot of one of these.
http://www.cavanaughflightmuseum.com...ger/Page1.html i voted for 5,11,12

![]() I just didn't have the time to finish my entry prior to the deadline but I hope I can finish it and just post it up on its own. And if you think the ones that don't look good in the game are getting too many votes, then staying away from the contest is only going to exacerbate that situation. Seems to me that makes your vote for in-game considerations of the logo entrants all the more important. ![]() By the way, logos #1, #3, and #9 currently have 22, 21, and 19 votes respectively. Logo #9 is certainly going to be easily readable in the game, so I think its early in the voting to draw any hard conclusions. Last edited by Le Grande Orange; 03-17-2005 at 01:19 AM. |

I voted for #1 and #4. While I agree that #1 is too small, it is the best concept out of all the logos IMO. It really catches the feel of Vegas, and I think if it were made larger it would be perfect. #4 looked a bit blurry, but again it did a great job on looking what a logo should look like from Vegas, IMO. I'm not a pure simmer, and I agree that a logo's ability to be used in-game should be a part of the voting process. However, if someone comes up with a great concept but it's too small, at some point that great concept may override the immediate game "use-ability" factor. For me, in this case, it did. I'd like to see logo #1, but bigger. And I'd like to see logo #4, clearer.
I did like #12, but only having dice was too small of a Vegas connection for me. Last edited by GuamYankee; 03-17-2005 at 01:28 AM. |

I submitted Logo #1... not gonna say who I am, and in no way let this affect your vote in this poll. Just to let you all know what my idea was... I hope you like it.

#8 is absolutely fantastic. I voted for it on its own because it was so far ahead of the rest in my mind. 12 was also real good, just too small, and there are....oh, about 13 others that I like. But 8 jumps off the screen. Great job.
