Need Jacksonville Cracker Jacks logo

After we had submitted the Jacksonville Commodores, I was at a Cracker Barrel Restaurant and saw a box of Cracker Jacks caramel popcorn and thought it would have made a great nickname for a team in Jacksonville...the "peanuts and cracker jacks" song of baseball and the large naval base in the city would be a good theme for a logo...the sailor on the box is named Sailor Jack...also the word "cracker jack" means "someone who is very skilled" as in "he is a cracker jack of a salesman" or "he is a cracker jack of a centerfielder"...and it may be a little of a stretch...."to hit a baseball hard and long" as in "he jacked it out of the park".

I would like to see what you great logo designers could come up with.

Here is where you can see a box of cracker jacks to help with the logo:

Not sure if this is what you had in mind, but let me know what you think.

Exactly what I was thinking about...You did it very well.

Thanks for doing it.

However, the lettering needs to have better contrast...it blends in too much with its background....use a brighter red and maybe trim it in white...or make the lettering a bright red trimmed in white...not crazy about the gray for the lettering.

Still this is a fine logo.

Good deal. I'm not at home right now, but when I get home tonight, I'll modify it. I wasn't too crazy about the gray for the lettering myself, but color schemes are not really my forte . What would you like to see as the main color for the letters?

I think the logo is great!! But have you thought of going with a lighter gray for the center circle for more contrast with the cracker jack boy.

Jermanfu, thanks for the offer to revise.

I think nmleague suggestion of making the center background a very light gray is an excellent suggestion...that might help spotlight Sailor Jack and Bingo a little more.

Make the lettering for Jacksonville and Cracker Jacks mainly red...trimmed with white. That is...Replace the gray lettering with red...replace the red trim on the lettering with white trim.

It has been my experience that red and blue don't always look good when placed next to each other...a buffer is usually needed for them to look good...imo.

All of you are awesome at these logo's. I think that is a great logo Jermanfu...I wish I had that talent. I have Fireworks MX and Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 and have tried logos, but keep getting nowhere on them Any hints or suggestions other then "Trial by error"?

EC here is revision #1 . I thought the background was good after I edited it, but looking at it now, I'm not so sure that it's light enough still lol. Anyway, let me know what you think. I have it saved in psp format, so it's easy enough to change it if need be

I'd be glad to pass along what little knowledge I do have. I'm sure nmleague, Knuckler and the others would feel the same. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

One thing that I have found with circles is it's better to use a light color with a dark outline, like white with a red outline than it is to go dark with a light outline. It just seems to show up better with circles.

Jermanfu, I think your original colors look better than my choices.

Thanks for the revision anyway...hope I didn't waste too much of your time.

Not a waste at all my friend. I love doing this. And the only way for me to get better is to practice. So it's not a problem .
