ULB with FOUR openings; SMLB seeking THREE
If you're an owner currently shopping around for a quality establishment known as an OOTP online league, now's a phenomenal time to check out the Underground League of Baseball and/or Simulated Major League Baseball.
ULB (URL http://www.ulb.simleaguecentral.com) is just days away from jumping into the 2009 season, its seventh season overall, and has four openings to suit a variety of tastes. It is a real roster league born in the 2003 season, which means if you're actually a fan of fictional leagues, it may behoove you to check out ULB anyway since the league is starting around the corner of fictionalizing itself as more and more fictional players replace the aging real player vets. Currently, the salary cap is a type of "soft cap" at $90 million and "hard cap" at $95 million. Essentially, we're in a transition period and dropping the cap to $90 million, which will be fully enforced at the end of the 2009 season. Teams currently in the $90-95 million range have a grace period of this current season to get back under. Some other features included: waivers, minor league options, rule 5 draft, $30 million cash cap and a 1-100 rating set for ratings and talents. Be sure to check out the site at http://www.ulb.simleaguecentral.com and browse the open teams, which are: St. Louis Cardinals: A powerful team seeking its first World Series victory in ULB. This squad did win the 2005 and 2006 NL Pennant, and followed those World Series appearances up with NL Central division titles again in 2007 and 2008. Boston Red Sox: An above average team that currently could be considered a contender, if only due to the fact that its competition in the AL East is rather weak. This is a squad that could win 85-90 games and claim an AL East crown, if managed properly. New York Yankees: Who knew a league would ever exist with a weak Yankees franchise? Folks, the Yanks have been horrid for the past couple seasons now and seek an owner willing to provide some tender loving care in a rebuild project. New York Mets: Over in Queens, the situation isn't much better. The Mets are also in dire need of a solid owner willing to undertake a rebuilding job, though with a stronger farm system than the Yankees currently, they're on their "rebuilding feet" slightly more than the squad in the Bronx. Interested parties should contact Commish Mike Lambert at duckfart76@simleaguecentral.com ----------------------------------- SMLB (URL http://smlb-ootp-online.com/) is in a very similar situation as ULB, as its also a real roster league born in 2003 that is currently in the middle of its 2009 season. Mike Lambert recently took the helm from former commish Chip Orton, who did an OUTSTANDING job in SMLB until time constraints forced him to hand over the reigns, but Chip still remains as a Co-Commish and team owner. Like ULB, this league is starting to fictionalize, so if you have a fictional league preference, come on over and check us out. SMLB has no salary cap at the current moment, but does have a $40 million cash cap. Like ULB, the ratings used in SMLB are 1-100 for both ratings and talents. Be sure to check out the league site at http://smlb-ootp-online.com/ and browse the open teams, which are: Buffalo Bulls: Currently in first place in the NL East, the former Montreal Expos franchise has been nipping at the heels of divisional powerhouse Philadelphia for years, but may now finally have the firepower to win a division title or three and seek their own postseason glory. Houston Astros: A rebuilding team that is toward the latter stages of rebuilding, with many fine prospects ready to break out of the minor leagues. This franchise has rebuilt its farm over the course of the past two to three seasons, and only needs a solid owner to put the final touches on and piece the squad together for a dynamite run. Chicago Cubs: A former powerhouse franchise that is struggling badly this season, but still has a solid team nonetheless. This is a squad that an owner can possibly take two angles with during the next season or so: reloading immediately or rebuilding entirely. Interested parties should contact Commish Mike Lambert at duckfart76@simleaguecentral.com ----------------------------------- Lastly, as a type of public service announcement, Mike Lambert also has openings for the Cubs and Mets in his Strike 3 Baseball League, which can be found at http://www.s3bl.simleaguecentral.com. I myself am not an owner of that fine league, but still urge anybody interested to check it out and contact Commish Mike Lambert at duckfart76@simleaguecentral.com for the latest on S3BL's openings.
