OOTP Logo Contest Week 3 - Poll #1

Ok everyone, here we are again. Interesting submissions this week. A couple of regulars from the first two weeks are absent and we've got a few newcomers this time around.

I'm going to make this one multiple choice for the first round so vote for all of your favorites. First round will run for 1 day.

Great logos yet again. 2,4,9,10 cut my list, 9 just stands out.

Another fine set of logos...you guys are all to be commended.

1...nicely done...just need more contrast on the lettering for me.

2...very well done...I get the feeling that the baseball is being grown by the sun's rays and the fertile soil...nice design and concept.

3....like the slogan "feel the heat"...very unique...first time I have seen that device used here on the forum...I think the Arkansas Travelers do it, too...excellent colors...like the baseball emitting rays.

4. nicely done...excellent lettering.

5....like the use of sun and grapes...really fine colors and font...wish he had put San Jose on it.

6...like the grape/vine image...wish he had made sunrays golden or yellow in color.

7...love the sunglasses on the ''California Cool Sun"...very nice touch...this would have been my favorite if yellow and orange colors had been used...it really fit the California image.

8...nice map concept...fine font and colors...like the glowing yellow trim.

9...my pick in this poll....really like the large lettering...will show up quite well in the game...good concept and design.

10...like everything about it...colors...design...font...beautiful sunburst...will show up very well in the game...but the lettering is not solid...it has a texture to it that takes away from it imo.

Eugene, I'm not sure if you noticed, but I chose to make the first round a multiple choice poll. You can vote for more than one.

Since we've had so many posts saying "I liked 2, 6, 7, 3, & 5", this way people can vote for each one that they really liked the most. Then I can make the final poll a single choice.

Something was just brought to my attention that I feel I should mention. Please, if you ever consider the "crispness" of the logos as a criteria for voting, don't.

The actual logo files have much better detail that you see here. The blurriness that you see in some logos is due to the compression process that I used so that I can display them all in one graphic. Because of the 100k limitation on attachments, I have to save the template as low quality.

I just wanted to make everyone aware of this so that you don't consider that when you are voting.

Nope...I'm a dummy...thought it was just one vote like before.

Maybe you should edit the first post and say you can vote for more than one logo.

I went with 3, 9, and 10. Love the slogan in 3, and 9 and 10 are the two that really stood out the most to me

Good idea to allow us to vote for more than one logo.

I feel the logos are much closer in competitive quality than the one vote only poll showed.

It was all or nothing in the one vote only poll...this should get more votes for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th choices...and indicate that the competition is closer.

One way around that is instead of trying to shoehorn in all the logos for a poll into one image, split them up into two images for the poll.

So, in this thread for example, instead of putting all 10 logos into one image for the first post, split it into two images of 5 logos each and post the images in the first two posts of the poll thread. Since the two images are in the first and second post, they're still close enough together to allow the logos to be compared easily. But with fewer logos in each individual image you should be able to bump up the image quality slider in the jpg export function to 7 or 8, which should make the logos look better overall.

I think putting together a simple external webpage is still a decent idea considering that no quality would be lost and that you will only need to plug in the images each time and not having to reconstruct the page.

That's a good idea, LGO. Do you think you could modify your template a little? Maybe redo it as a single row of logos that is 5 wide?

That way, even if we do keep it at 15 logos, I can just put them in three consecutive posts?

I don't think 5 wide will fit properly; it'd push the forum page past one screen and folks would have to scroll sideways. I recall trying 5 wide at first when was setting up the template and it just didn't fit well.

Cuss' idea of a separate web page would work as well, if someone has the space to host it.

I didn't know if there was a limit, but I worried there was, so I just saved mine (first ever logo...thanks for the encouragement, Eugene!) as normal (or 5 on Photoshop).

Next time, I'll know, and I'll crisp it up to 99.9!!!!

Great job again!

Props to the maker of the logo with the grapes. Although it is not my favorite, I like the fact that someone went in a different direction than the common use of a sun.

Good idea, Cuss...suggest it to LivnLegend.

I think dbacks offered to host the poll at one time.

Would this also make it possible to just have one poll?
