Catobase Problem: Help Please

Alright, I started a solo league in 1901 using the Lahman database. I played out the season and figured it would be cool to use Catobase to keep a running history of my league. So I setup Catobase and all that and then ran it. I hit "Import Stats" to begin the process and it starts doing it's business then a window pops up saying:

"There is a problem importing around line 100 in the file \players.csv

The most likely causes is an invalid character the Nickname or HomeState fields.

Open this file in Notepad and uncheck word wrap (under Edit).
Examine the above line and surrounding lines for any unusual characters and import again."

I know that's pretty self explainatory, but how do I go about fixing this? I opened up the file in Notepad like it said and looked at line 100 and the others around it and didn't really notice anything unfamiliar compared to other lines. So how do I know what to look for and remove? Any help is appreciated on fixing this problem.

Just a shot in the dark here, but those rectangles (supposed to be tabs?) may be the problem. You could probably do a find&replace in notepad or Wordpad to get rid of the all.

I thought that might have something to do with it and I took out those ones but then I noticed they appear like throughout the entire file. From 1 all the way down. So I don't see why it would say line 100 is the problem if all the lines before that work fine with those in there.

What's with the entries after kid? Doesn't seem right compared to the others.

What's with the entries after kid? Doesn't seem right compared to the others.

I'm pretty sure this is it along with the odd character in the hometown posted earlier. One thing though: you want to fix those within the game and run the exporter again. Otherwise, you'd be having the same trouble all over again.

This isn't really related to the topic, but is 9 minutes a good time for how long it takes Catobase to totally finish?

the data imports dont take long 5-10 minutes if that. building the webpages can be time consuming though, the larger your db gets, mine takes atleast an hour now.

I'm generating a 10 year season, 16 teams, and the html portion runs right at a half an hour.

No, sorry. I don't have my stats hosted. I'm thinking about doing that if I ever take my league into the Dynasty thread, but right now my only audience is my hard drive.

I hit "Import Stats" to begin the process and it starts doing it's business then a window pops up saying: "There is a problem importing around line 100 in the file \players.csv The most likely causes is an invalid character the Nickname or HomeState fields. Open this file in Notepad and uncheck word wrap (under Edit). Examine the above line and surrounding lines for any unusual characters and import again." I know that's pretty self explainatory, but how do I go about fixing this? I opened up the file in Notepad like it said and looked at line 100 and the others around it and didn't really notice anything unfamiliar compared to other lines. So how do I know what to look for and remove? Any help is appreciated on fixing this problem.

It just doesn't seem like that tommRR should be in there before the R,R. Look at the other entries, it doens't jive. and this one nearer the 'problem' line: 101,"Elberfeld","Kid","The tabasco kidRR", What's with the entries after kid? From 1 all the way down. So I don't see why it would say line 100 is the problem if all the lines before that work fine with those in there.
