Anyone interested in a logo contest?
I was thinking while back of starting mini contests for the logo makers here. We could name a concept and whoever wished to submit an entry could do so. We could then vote on the entries. There would not be a prize per se but the community would benefit as whole. Imagine having 4 of 5 (or even more) new logos to choose between from one original concept? Anyway, might be fun to see different designer's take on one concept. Of course no one could allow their feelings to get hurt if their logo wasn't chosen as "best".

I'll throw down...only to get skunked by Henry, Cuss, and LGO.
But, hey....fourth place can be nice....

I'd be happy to help with judging and/or organization if you guys would like.
I'm not sure how you're envisioning this, LL, but I was thinking maybe someone could come up with some random team names for you all to work your magic with.

What about a logo set. A League banner, two conference banners and one team. Or something. Instead of just one logo.

My logos are not that original, so I doubt I would enter, but I'd love to be a judge of some sort.

Count me in, I'll give it a go.
At least to me, a lot depends on the particular team nickname chosen. Some immediately give me an idea, for others I can't think of anything to try... |

It would be my suggestion for the designers to create an original set of major league logos...do them in order alphabetically one at a time...then let us vote on each one of them in a poll to pick the best of the best...someone could keep track of how many individual polls each designer won...then compile all of the logos in the competition and post them on a site like enuttage's, JoeRocks or Henry's BCB...each winning entry would be included in a special compilation with the others included in a secondary compilation. This would give us two great set of logos. It might entice some of the inactive designers to come back and show their stuff, too.
I think LivnLegend's suggestion for the competition is great. Hope it comes to fruition. Last edited by Eugene Church; 01-10-2005 at 12:40 AM. |

Yeah, this would be great for the whole community. I would love to see a couple sets of top-notch fictional logos.

Hmmm, at the speed I usually work, the contest will be over before I get the first one done!
Anyway, Eugene's idea is interesting, or it could be logos for completely fictional teams. So how wants to become the "sponsor" and be the one responsible for coming up with the fictional team names (assuming that's the direction chosen)? Here's one possible solution: everyone interested pitches in a few fictional team name ideas. Then one could be selected at random as the first logo to be made, then another selected at random, and so on. Last edited by Le Grande Orange; 01-10-2005 at 01:32 AM. |

I think EC would be perfect for coming up with the fictional names. He has a great sense of history and location. I'd also love to be in on helping him with that if that is the direction you guys went.

Since this is LivnLegend's idea, why don't we let him design the competition.
