The Professional Circuit has allowed its first player of color to enter the league in May, 1897 after a legal suit was filed by a black ballplayer. After much legal work, the offices of the Circuit have allowed Fleetwood Cole to enter in mid season and awarded him to the New York Perfectos in an effort to place him in a city that will hopefully accept a player of color on its team.
