Logo Request: Noumea Miners

Another logo request for the South Seas Baseball League.

The Noumea Miners play in the largest city in New Caledonia, which has (or had, in some cases) an abundance of minerals, and nickel mining remains the largest industry on the island.

I'd like the Miners to use black, gray and blue as their chief colors, and had the idea of a pickaxe superimposed over the silhouette of an island volcano for a design, but anything that reflects mining and an island would be outstanding.

Spuds, Im working on it...I had to take a break to finish up my entry to the logo contest, and now I'm back on it....

are you really set on the black, gray, and blue color scheme?....I thought it a little blah in light of the SSBL being a fairly colorful league...

just curious....

Not necessarily. I was using gray because of the nickel mining connection. Feel free to do whatever you think fits best. I'm not that picky, really.

1st version...

Its a little busy, but its a whole new layout that I had come up with and I got kinda busy jamming as many elements into it as I could...

I've got a 2nd more pared down version in the works...although, I may not finish it tonight...

(edited graphic as per EC's keen-eyed observation of text blending too much with background, heightened contrast a pinch, changed border color)

If my entry into the contest was half as good as this one, I would've gotten more votes than I've gotten so far. Realistically, all of the logos I've done for the SSBL have gotten much more of my true graphical ability than what I did for the contest. Something about the whole South Seas concept just really inspired me.

Yep, you are much better than the one you put in the competition.

This one is superb...like the change in the lettering...it is readable now and will show up well in OOTPB...it made it an almost perfect logo.
