Metros Logos Updated

Just wanted to share the latest update of my Metro Leagues logos. The design is still circular, but I've cleaned them up a little more. You can view them here...

Metros Slightly Updated Logos

Some folks had wanted my in-game Metros logos for personal use. Those have been updated, as well. They now include a bevel edge, are cleaner and are a tad sharper than the previous version. They look much nicer in the game. For those that want, please pull them off the boxscore page here...

Metros Updated In-Game Logos

Here's a sample of the in-game updated logo for the Delta Stars...

A fine set of logos...maybe the best I have seen...simple..great color combinations and contrast...names can be read even on the smaller screens...no splotches or spottiness...excellent nicknames and town names.

The Metro League is one of our finest.

I hope my Alltime Allstar Baseball League website...coming soon I hope...waiting for it to be designed and setup...will be half as good as yours.

Great Job DreamTeams.

Did you ever figure out how to sim games and get realistic pitcher use and stats? I got fairly good results with my old system we discussed previously, but finally decided the way to go was to sim the first six innings inning by inning and then play out the rest of the game. This pretty much curtails the AI's involvement and give me control of substitutions. This works great. The only thing you have to look out for is a big inning early in the game. I play out the next few innings of the team half inning at a time for the pitcher that got hit hard to make sure he doesn't give up another big inning. I also play out an inning for that team when there is a possibility that the pitcher will be subject to a pinchhitter. If he has settled down after the bad inning, I leave him in until maybe the sixth inning. This saves relievers...I only have 9 man staffs, the minimum needed to keep your staff from getting overworked. I also pick every starter. All my pitchers are listed as "MR"...that way, starters can relieve an inning or two a few days after a start and still make a regular start. I only use starters as relievers in important games when the game is on the line.

Thanks, guys.

Eugene,

I've tried to obscure the use of relievers in the Metros by having starters finish most games, as they did in vintage and early Negro league baseball. Love the simplicity of this. My staffs are also a group of nine as well, four being starters. I still allow the cpu to handle all staffs, but by editing the era settings and pitcher endurance ratings, most good pitchers finish games. In fact, Johnny Kraly (star pitcher for the Roxford club) finished every game he started in 1957. One side effect of this is that relivers move around the league since they get upset about playing time and file for free agency. Oh well, who cares since the Metros reliever is an obscure player, sort of like punters in football. Also, I make quite a few starting pitchers into good bunters and base runners, which minimizes the pinch hitting somewhat. In fact, Mike Bordi (star pitcher for the Oakdale Spiders) is currently on a 19 game hitting streak. Hey, in the Metros pitchers can be the most complete players in the league, although few hit this well. Will still be doing some tweaking, though.

Thanks for the logos and the Metros DreamTeams!!!!

I know that you had stated that you created these new circular logos with software you bought at Best Buy (or the like). Could you refresh my memory as to the name of the software.

Thanks!!!

I glad you found a workaround. I play 1950's era baseball, so I need to use relievers, but not the way the AI uses them. I never found a way to sim and get anything close to real life baseball, so I just sim the first six innings and then play out the rest of the game. I get very realistic stats this way...and more importantly, I found that I enjoy the league much, much better, because I really get to know the players.

I just spent the last hour looking at all of your stadiums and city geographics and history. I had done it before, but had forgotten how great your site is. With your permission, I may steal some of your site's setup for my website. It is the best I have seen...it is very user friendly.

GREAT JOB.

Guys,

Did some more tweaking on a few of the Metros logos. Simple, small touches that add a little baseball flavor to each of the folllowing logos...

Atlantics - Added baseballs to the dark circle on the logo.

Blue Sox - The 'o' in Blue Sox is now a baseball.

Knickerbockers - Slightly improved the bat in the Knicerbocker's hand.

Stars - Placed a baseball in the middle of the star.

Titans - Added a bat to the image, plus added baseballs to the dark circle on the logo. Very simple, nothing spectacular.

Check out each by using the link in my sig., or use the links in the first post. Small additions, but all look great in the game, for those who want to pull them off the sight.

Thanks Eugene,

The Metros site is basically built around the web site that is spit out by the OOTP game engine. All I've done is edited a few pages, created a few and intergrated it into the existing web design. So, feel free to use any of the ideas that you enjoy.

You really are perfecting your logos...the additions are very good...it is amazing how much you can get in one small logo.

Just a thought...don't know if it would work or not...the idea is good, but it may not work in reality:

For the Atlantics, put crossed bats as part of the wheel.

Good idea, Eugene.

Added bats as spokes in the wheel. Can see the update to the Atlantics logo at the links in first post. Thanks.

Recently tweaked the Blue Sox logo. Slightly improved the socks in the image. Check and grab at the original links in this post or my site in sig. Enjoy.

DreamTeams,

Just my opinion and taste (which is sometimes wrong and poor)...I think you should make the heel, toe and top of the socks a light blue...you need a little more contrast...at least for me.

As you know, I am a big fan of your Metro League.

Which town fans cheer when the opposing team makes a good play?

I think I will follow them as "my" Metro team...I really admire good sportsmanship...which today is sorely lacking in many fans...don't like the taunting and silly displays done by "modern day" players these days...a player should never show up his opponent...or display displeasure with an official's call...just suck it up like a pro and continue to play the game.

Actually, made one with the light blue in those areas, but wasn't to thrilled with it. Didn't seem to fit the image I wanted to portray for the team. There is a third slightly lighter blue color in those areas of the sock. I chose to make the socks dark without a lot of contrast because they'd look more like socks a factory worker would ware. I'll give it another look.

The Easton Atlantics fans cheer their team wildly, but have an odd tradition of respectfully applauding a solid play made by the opposition. The team has never made the post season. Still, I like the Atlantics club, because 'Steady Stan' Alexander plays on the team. He's the Metros only .400 hitter.

Also, agree with you about good sportsmanship. But, fans will be fans as they've always been. In baseball's past, you can read about fans that were absolute nuts, such as the Royal Reuters of the early Boston Red Sox days.
Still love the baseball player more than any other athlete of the big three sports. He seems to do a lot less taunting than in other sports.

Hey, I understand totally. You want it the way you want it.

It is still a very nice logo...and your league logos as a group are as good as I have seen. You are and should be very proud of them.

I am getting closer and closer to having my own website...it could happen within a week or so.

I hope it is half as good as the Metro.

Well, took your advise Eugene and the Blue Sox logo looks great. You can check out the update at my site. Thanks.:-)
