Game crashes when simmed or at end of played out game

I've been busy teaching and coaching for the last four months and was looking forward to Christmas Break to get back into some solo OOTP. However, it seems that since I updated to SP2 with my XP, that OOTP crashes no matter what. I've done the sound off thing, no luck. Curious what my options are here since SP2 hasn't caused a problem to any other program I run. Thanks for any help and happy holidays

Just noticed you've already tried the sound trick... hmmm... not too sure what to do then... are you using the OOTP browser? Try switching that to your internet browser (or vice versa..)

When, exactly, is it crashing? Opening the league? Starting a game? Finishing a game?

It crashes either immediately on the sim or at the end of a game if I play it out.

All files? It would help if you'd make a new game generated file to test.

Just tested it with all my various leagues, yeah, it is on all files as well as new ones.

Maybe download a league off one of the sites and see if it crashes, and then try the uninstall, reinstall plan. That seems to solve a lot of problems for people.

Tried it with two other leagues and still crashes. However, I did re-download v6.11 and run it and things seem to be better, I played and finished a sim and a game w/o a crash. Will keep you updated, thanks!

Re-downloading seems to have fixed the problem, except now I've got a new, albeit minor, problem. Whenever I play out a game, the scoreboard at the top of the screen (the one for the game I'm playing) has absolutely no information in it. Nothing appears in the blank spots, even the teams aren't listed. I've tried the different skins to see if that makes a difference and no luck. Any easy fix for this? It's kind of a pain going back through pbp for the score.

Sounds like the scoreboard font file (swift.ttf , if I recall correctly) is lost or corrupted. Yet another reinstall should fix that.

Hey Jmm, downloaded and re-setup two more times (used each of the different OOTP servers) and still no luck although it sounds like you are right about the file because I don't get the MPH Box or the Entire linescore scoreboard at the very top of the screen. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you reboot after you reinstalled? Other than that, you could check to see if the file is corrupted by going to your OOTP6\Graphics folder and double-clicking on the swift.ttf file, which will open it with Windows Font Viewer if the file is okay.

when you say that you turn off sound, did you just turn off the volume on your speakers?

or did you disabled it in the game?

this crash is because of sound and a dmusic.dll

dmusic.dll latest version found in direct x and ottp dont get along... when i have sound on , it will crash at end of the game and it points to dmusic.dll..

if you have window xp and try to delete the dmusic.dll file and download an old version, the the new version of dmusic.dll will show up again...
