Last Chance for Cato, PLEASE HELP!!!

OK, I am at the end and really ticked off...

I am trying to update the league to catch it up to Cato for our league and I am having no luck...

I'll give a quick recap of what I have done and what I have...

I have the 3 end of season files that have been completed from our previous OOTP 5 league... I can run the first season fine if I don't try and import the previous seasons... Once I try running it with the previous seasons, I have trouble and it crashes with null files.. I am missing the HTML files from that year and copied the ones generated from the HTML report created in OOTP... Like I said, works fine if I do that season on it's own. Once I use the old database to put it all togetrher it won't finish. I tried Cato 6.0, 6.1, and all the others you people have send to me. (thanks so much) Still no luck, crashes everytime.

So I try skipping that year and go to 2011, same thing. I even tried to go back to 5.14, can't get that to work either. Hell, with that version I can't even import. It gives me an error saying file is missing and I know I have the end of season file. I am going nuts.

Can anyone please help us out?

Do you mean you copied the HTML files from that year (like from the Almanac) or from the current year?

No, I did generate HTML and used those files from that year.

... And you're getting a "Invalid use of Null" error and then Catobase crashes? When exactly during the import does the error come up?

Well, if you have room in your webspace, throw all the files up there, link them here, and maybe some kind soul will find something...

The End of league files can be fond here all zipped together:

I truly would appreciate any help. I can be reached on AIM at ThomasMontalto.

Thomas, I'm super busy and can't look at this right now, but if no one else figures it out and you are still fighting this issue, feel free to give me a ping every few days as a reminder. I'll gladly try to see if I can figure out what is going on.

Two things right off the bat...

1) Were 2010 / 2011 / 2012 played with OOTP6 or OOTP5?

2) Either way, the League_News_Box folder for 2010 is pretty light... most importantly, it's missing lnews and ltrans... did you say you had copies of these from the Almanac, and if so, can you put them up somewhere?

Answers:

1. All three seasons were played in OOTP 5.

2. Don't have those, the ones I created by going in and creating the reports in the online league setup, have the files w/nothing in them.

Well... that's a problem. Probably a show-stopping one... Without the ltrans file, Catobase can't calculate the splits for players who played on multiple teams that season, because there's no way to know when they changed teams.

So you think it's pretty much a dead issue then? Ugh... How bout just skipping 2010?

All the files are there for the following year, but i can'g et it to work either.

One funny thing, I can get it to work if I don't use the league history. If I do it as a one year thing just for 2010, it works fine!

I was able to import 2011 and 2012... The only "error" that came up was that it said all the team abbreviations were new in 2011, so you might end up with two copies of each franchise, 2001-2009 and 2011-present.

I didn't create web pages, since I don't have a spare six to twelve hours on my hands ... but if you want a copy of the database as I have it, let me know.

I would gladly try that...

I know I had one of them work and when I did I tried creating the web pages, it still crashed. But, if you can give me some suggestions I would gladly try again.

Just want to add - the infamous error that many folks have trouble with occurs at HTML generation time. If you run into that error, check which version you are using and rollback to 6.0.0 if you are not already using it.

I received an error even using 6.0 during generation.

Thanks, I'll try running it on 6.14 tonight before I go to bed...

Which version did you use to import?

6.1.4 ... and all went well, other than it thinking that every team was a new franchise.
