Runtime Error

Okay, here is a strange one.. Didn't see it anywhere else...

I just recently purchased OOTP6 and have installed the 6.11 patch. The first time the program loaded fine. Then the next day I loaded the program and received a Runtime Error right at the first screen. I couldn't figure it out, so I uninstalled the program and re-installed it. It worked fine.

Then another day went by.

Again, I load the program. Agian, I get a runtime error at the first screen. I installed the software again (this time without uninstalling it) and it worked fine.

I can get around the error, but if someone else has had this problem and knows a fix please let me know.

I have XP, a good amount of memory (but can't recall the amount right now.. writing this message from work..) and a ton of space on the HD. I haven't even selected a league yet, so that wouldn't be very helpful. I can say this has happened when the last league loaded was a Historical one and a fictional one.

Anything else you need?

Do you have some sort of spyware seeker program running that maybe detecting the eLicense as spyware?

Wow.. two minutes before a response.. yikes.. you're good.

The only software I know that is running all the time is Norton Antivirus. Could that be causing the problem?

I have 'Spyware' programs, but I have to run them seperately. They do not run in the background.

I wouldn't imagine that it would cause it, but not sure. Can you disable it(Norton) and see if it works properly then?

I will try that tonight when I get home and let you know. Would be a bit of a pain if it was though. hehe..

Not really... I always disable Norton AV before I open OOTP, and it makes everything run a lot faster... simming, saving and generating reports.

It makes it run faster? Sweet! I thought it was slow compared to version 4 (yes, I was behind a bit hehe) I wasn't able to test it last night, but will try tonight.

i figured out spysweeper someimes causes game to get run time errors i dialbled havent gotten any
