You need to clarify as the game does not connect you to the internet.

I think what tvman is refering to is when the game ends it tried to open the game summary page in Internet Explorer, and then crashes.

tvman - turn off sound. That is what usually causes the crashes at the end of the game. OOTP does not connect to the internet, so no fears about your dialup, the game makes use of internet explorer to display many of the game's statistical pages.

Except he said that he looked at the box score... that's what confused me also...

true... didn't catch that... that is odd...

Maybe try running an adware check on your machine? Maybe it has been infected with an adware program that tries to popup windows every now and then when you close your browser?

I suppose it's possible that the system has some spyware on it that attempted to open a web page, even if you're not connected to the internet, some spyware will still try to do that.

The problem you described happened to me before I rebuilt my computer.

Anytime I would close a web browser, moments later, a webpage would open.

Are you using the internal browser that comes with OOTP or do you tell it to use your default browser? If you are using the default browser, my guess is you have some spyware on your computer.

Next time you have a web browser open, disconnect from the internet, then close your browser, and see if it happens.

The problem you described is *probably* independent of OOTP.

sorry, poor attempt to explain, i think what happened was that after the game was finished it loaded the box score in an explorer page, i viewed it then after i clicked the X to exit out it gave me the microsoft error and crashed back to the desktop, i see lots of fixes for bugs in the game and they mostly say to disable sound, is that our only option i mean it takes away all of the atmosphere if you do that, unless there is a way to disable sound just before the game over but i don't see that option, i have tried to disable the sound in the game setup at the very start then enable it before you play a game this seems to help somewhat but have still had the occasional lockup exiting a game that way losing all info for a game in a season i was trying, is there anything to try to fix this sound problem causing lockups, thanks.

ps; i should have stated that i'm having these problems using the demo which is version 6.10, can't say i'd be to excited about playing the game with no sound if that is the only fix

another ps: i guess this problem i'm having is the same as others in the "game shuts down after the nineth inning" thread.

I'm pretty sure it's not the same as the "game shuts down after the ninth" bug... AFAIK, with that bug, it crashes before you get to view the boxscore.

I'd guess that the consensus view of adware / spyware is probably correct. Hunt around for Ad-Aware SE Personal and Spybot - Search & Destroy, download them and run them.
