Is there any better feeling...

Does it get any better than having a 22 year old wonderkind player, ratings 67/61/108/92/71, who you've brought along through the minors, and seen dominate the hell out of the league in his first year, hitting .300+ with 31 homers at the all-star break?

Yes it does.

It does when you go to the player development report and see "David Barker seems to have taken his game to the next level!"

Aw yeah.

87/70/125/104/85, baby.

And I find that such a player is enough to keep my interest in a league for a long time. Congrats. Cool.

Yeah, another example of this is that I got 18 year old rookie Rogers Hornsby in a trade and I'm just waiting for those numbers to jump in triple-A before unleashing him in the majors.

The flip side is the unbelievable discouragement when a top AAA prospect (in this case, a CF who was the 3rd best prospect in all baseball) took talent hits in contact, power, plate discipline and range, all in one day. What a bummer! He went from five blue stars to only four-and-a-half. He'll still probably be an okay major leaguer, but no longer not the stud I was expecting. I'd waited for the day when he arrived in the bigs. But no more.

Ironically, it happened the same day my team won the 7th game of the World Series. That victory felt somewhat bittersweet!
