Post Is there a way to UNLOCK TRADITIONAL and set to TALENT ONLY?

folks...is there a way I can unlock this somehow...I locked my career and have now been reading that TALENT ONLY is more realistic than Traditional!!.....Is there a way to do it somewhere in the game directory by editing some files or something?

Please help!

Cool

I don't think you can get to it once it's locked. Steve or Markus would have to confirm - but my guess is once it's locked - that's it for that league.

Anyone ?

I do not know of one, but I've never tried.

What's the difference between Traditional and Talent? I've never messed with this setting because I don't fully understand it.

I think thats the whole point of locking it. No matter how tempted you are, you can't change it. In your case you want to actually make it more challenging, but either way, I think you're stuck with the rating system you locked to begin with.

Try it. It's pretty self-explanatory.

But back up my league first, right?

You shouldn't have to do that, as long as you don't lock it. Just change to the one that you aren't on now and then look at your player's ratings. Then just switch back whenever you're ready.

I like Talent only better. It's a lot harder to evaluate talent and you have to rely more on stats. I tried switching it back and it wasn't nearly as enjoyable.

Markus, if it is possible please do not tell us how to do it. My main concern would be having it abused in online leagues. If you are in a solo league don't lock it and you won't have a problem.

sorry Darkfudge I have to agree with Tiger Fan....what good is a lock feature if you know how to unlock it. I relize its your league and you have a right todo with it as you please. But if he tells you how to undo the lock and then someone else wants to know so he tells him and etc. next thing you know net leagues have no way to know if your cheating.

Just start a fresh league and this time dont lock it.

It is nothing against you personally but Markus simply can't release that imformation. It would destroy the feauture particularily with regard to online leagues. The option to lock is there for a reason. If we all learn how to unlock it than it becomes pointless to have the hidden ratings at all.

Listen to me please...I dont play online leagues and I have no desire to "share" any "secrets" with anyone....I simply made a mistake with my own personal league and wish to change the league to view Talent Only since everyone seems to say its more realistic. I've committed simply too many seasons into my little 'fantasy world' to just start over....this is preposterous to think that I cannot just ask a request of this basic nature.

I can understand your side and am even willing to have the OOTP team "DO" it for me if I mail them the file or whatever would be needed just to protect what is sacred....I just want to enjoy the game to it's fullest without having to redo everything that I vested so much time into doing.

That's what I get for responding to things like this when I'm at work and aren't able to actually run the game.

My difficulty with going on straight Talent is that not all players have developed into their full talent ratings, so it can be pretty misleading. To me, using "reduced" would present a pretty good challenge, and would be more realistic than "Talent only." I'd be curious about others experience with this feature.

We are all responsible for our actions, in one form or another.

To Darkfudge, sorry, suck it up.

I strongly desire for this information to remain private. As a member of an on-line league, I don't want even the POSSIBILITY of someone else knowing this information.

Thanks.

Great game.

I settled on reduced ratings, which I'm generally happy with. I do wish there was a way to reflect lefty/righty splits on reduced ratings, but I can cope for the time being.

IMO we are best off abandoning that sinking ship that is Off Topic to the rats infesting it and just starting a whole new Baseball Forum from scratch.
