Post Too many runs scored

in the first and last innings of the game.

I only played ten games, but in 9 of them, one team has scored at least 2 runs in the first inning and in 8 of the games one (or both) teams have scored at least 2 runs in the last inning (either the 9th or last inning of extra-innings game).

Also, seems like the home team will always score a couple of runs to either win or tie the game in the 9th inning.

I have noticed in at least 3 games, the computer AI will leave the pitcher in to bat with a tie game or being down by a run in the 8th and 9th innings.

Besides being 2 and 8 with the Brewers and losing my last 3 games in the last inning, all is well.

Unhappy

Don't feel bad I had it happen to me quite often in OOTP3. The in game code must not have been improved upon in the recent version. Let's hope that it’s earmarked for a patch fix.

There's nothing more maddening then having the home team score 5 runs in the ninth to win the game. Unless that home team is you.

yes, in OOTP3 i've often noticed that closers have a streaky approach. they'll shut the opposition down for games on end, then suddenly they'll get lit for 4 runs and no outs and the ERA goes to hell in a hand basket!

I've "watched" it happen right before my eyes on TV or at a ballpark too.....not far off.

all of these things happen in real life too. 10 games isn't a very big sample to make deductions from. I had these things happen quite a bit in ootp3 too, but it's hard to say it is inaccurate. It SEEMS like it happens "all the time" because those heart-breaking last-inning losses get burned in your brain, so it's hard to be objective about whether or not it is unrealistic.

My $.02 on the matter.

PS: Just finished my first game of OOTP4, Cubs @ Reds. It went 14 innings. Kerry Wood got shelled for 5 runs in 5 IP, my bullpen stepped it up, and Sammy tied the score with a 3-run dinger in the top of the ninth (yeah, I know). In the 14th, Alan Benes got Griffey swinging, only to have Kelly Stinnett hit a solo HR to win it. A heart-breaker indeed. I lost, but what a great season opener!

Cool

I have to disagree... played hundreds (if not thousands) of games and haven't seen that any more in the game than I do in real life. Just out of interest, I looked at the last 50 box scores from my current test leagu in OOTP4 and have a grand total of 6 games where the home team pulled in out in the last inning. I really don't think your seeing a problem as much as "chance" ???

Okay Henry here's my month of April numbers Games: 27 Number decided 8th+: 8 8/27= 29%. I'll report on the rest of the season later but 30% seems a little high.

I guess that's the point though... if I'm not seeing those type numbers and you are, what other explanation is there than chance?

I remember when I first got OOTP3 and played my first season. I had about 8 games in the 1st month that the winning team scored over 20 runs... thought something was terribly wrong.. but you know what, haven't seen that type of streak since

All right I ran the rest of the numbers and here goes: May: 7 of 28 25%, June: 6 of 26 23% it’s getting better. Just for laughs I counted how many runs were scored in the 8th and after, it came out to 18.6% of runs scored for both teams were scored in the 8th or later. I’m just starting July and will let you know how the rest of the season fares.
