I'm transplanting the independent Northern League (go Saints) into OOTP and am currently working on the ballparks. From websites I have found the fence distances and most parks have a picture, giving me an idea of fence shape, foul territory, etc...
How do you go about determining the park factors? Aside from looking at the shape of the fence to decide the chances of a weird carom and possible triple, and of course fence distances for HR ratings, i really don't know what to look for that is an indicator of avg. for L/R, doubles, etc? Does anyone have any advice on determining the ballpark factors? |

One other thing. On the Northern League website, each team has a summary page which has the park dimensions. they are listed as, for example, 320-400-320 with no labels for the numbers. Do you think this is the distance for LF/RF lines or LF/RF straightaway?
http://www.northernleague.com Edit- Are ballparks usually built with the pitcher facing west? hence southpaw, since the left arm is on the south side of the mound? [ March 02, 2002: Message edited by: JML ]
|

I'm not really up for that much number-crunching just to make some adjustments, but thanks all the same. It's interesting to know how that process works. I was just looking for some basic guidelines for what makes a park hitter/pitcher/triple friendly. |
