Question Need advice re: "greatest teams" type league

Recently, someone posted results from a "greatest teams" type league, but I can't find the posts anymore. I'm looking for how the League Totals and Era sections should be handled on the "League Setup" option. What I'm doing is picking 32 of the greatest teams (spanning from 1906-2001) by loading individual teams from Lahman v4.5 (already done). I just don't know how to set up the options that will provide the best "background" against which to play this league.

Also, being that there are players and ballparks from all eras, is there a way to set up photos and the correct ballparks (w/ DAT files) that go with each team? I noticed that parks and pictures are all separated by eras in most of the great 'custom packs' that have been created by the user community. I need to get them all loaded into a single .LG directory (especially when park configs are in separate .DAT files).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Marshall

Grab the league file from the Boys of Summer website... Open it in your game... and check the ballpark editor, if it has all the stadiums you are looking for (it probably will unless my memory is faulty we are using the Frohike park.dat files which had all the stadiums from MLB history) just copy the park and parkcfg .dat files into your league directory.

Hope this helps.

I did just what you are setting up, and I just set my league to the 1946-1960 Era...Golden Years maybe??? forget what it was called. Anyway, I didn't modify any of the league totals, and I was pretty satisfied with the totals. I can upload the htm files tonight if you'd like so you can judge for yourself.

in case you care, the 1990 Oakland A's beat out the 1975 Reds in the finals.

Thumbs up

Thanks guys - will try your suggestions. Scott - I've downloaded the 1909 Boys of Summer league files (that's what's current for them). Is that going to have data for the parks and photos for players on the later teams (e.g. 27 Yanks, 31 A's, 42 Cards, etc.)?

I guess I'll go find out, eh?

Thanks,
Marsh

Question

Another question: Is there a file somewhere which shows the home ballpark for every team, each year? Something that's sorted by team and year, rather than by ballpark, would be most helpful. One of the Strat sites had something like that, but I've forgotten the link.

Thanks,
Marshall
