I was playing a historical 1989 career, and during the 1990 season Doc Gooden turned into a super pitcher outta nowhere! He struck out 621 batters, and Nolan Ryan was second with like 290 or something...
I don't play it, I just sim to see outcomes, and I don't mess with any stats. Doc just turned into a vicious pitcher...He pitched a perfect game, and is almost a guarenteed 16 strikeout a game pitcher...He went 33-0 during the Regular season, and son all 4 of his playoff appearances... Has anyone else had an ultimate player appear beinga pitcher or batter? I checked Gooden's ratings, and almost everything is 10 or above...He's awesome, and I wish I woulda played, and traded for him.... [ 05-24-2002, 12:05 AM: Message edited by: One51 ] |

Sorry - have not seen this yet occur with any player in maybe 1000 plus seasons going back to OOTP2. I have seen many excellent seasons but no 33-0 season with 600 K's, I'd hanker a guess that is a fairly uncommon result

I've never seen any ficationally created player (although the originally created fictional players will have stars) become dominant. The top 3 leaders in the league are always within a few stats of each other. Hoepfullt the patch will help this problem.

I've never seen anything like that before...
I have one pitcher whose had a couple really good seasons... 28-1 with a 2.34 ERA one season, 26-3 with a 2.40 ERA the second... this all goes along with his 6 straight Cy Young Awards - but, to be honest, I don't think he's ever really been dominat. |

My reason for this, was because I nearly maxed out Pedro Martinez's ratings, and the outcome of his stats were almost the same as yours. There is no way, the game would all of a sudden give Doc a 19 at K's, 20 at AVG, a so on .... Sorry, but your story is wack. You'd have to manually adjust their ratings. |

I think there's a glitch in the game somewhere. Someone recently posted that a player got like 1000 AB in a season. Seems like the game is somehow adding extra stats to the player. Maybe 2 Doc Gooden's were acidentally created and their stats are going to one file. |

Most maximums are 64, but i think 3B can go up to 511.

First off the story isn't bogus. I also think it may have been a glitch, it's the first time it happened to me in 300+ seasons. I just figured I would post it here to see if anyone else has had this happen to them...
His K's are the only thing above 10, I just said 10 or above to make it easier. Thanks for replying, maybe it was one of those once in a blue moon type mistakes or glitches... |

In a fictional league, I am in my 38th year and in my 26th year I had a CF that came up at 21, and has dominated ever since. He has 606 career HR thru 12 seasons and has hit 72, 68, 64, 63, 57 in a season. He has led the league by 20 HR a few times. 2 Seasons ago he had a season ending injury but came back last year to hit 72 HR. Unfortunately his contact rating dropped from average to fair. However he is currently a 3/16/8 (yeah, 16 in HR) that was drafted and developed this way on his own (i alternate spring training from all human-all 5's, to all computer (ask coach) each year).
His career BA = .286, OBP = .401, SLG = .668 Oh and he has A range at CF too

Whoever said 3B can go up to 511 is wrong. The highest is 20.

I had something similiar happen in my league, a batter got stats for pitching his stats were as follows:
23,146 Hits against 23,472 runs Everything else was normal (zero) for pitching stats. Must have been some kind of a glitch. |

Glitches happen:
My just completed season saw the league's worst pitcher, in 278 innings, give up 9 runs, of which 234 were earned... P.S. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the "Runs Allowed" stat resets at 255. Just a guess... P.P.S. That pitcher was, and still is, scouted as a "No.2 or No. 3" starter. I'd be interested to see who that scout considers an "Average" or "Middle of the Pack" starter...

In OOTP 3 I had a player for Cincy that had like a 10 or 11 in batting average and his career average was like .360 or something. Maybe higher (too tired to look now). For a 5-year period his mean average was .400. He eclipsed .400 in 3 of those years (in a row), and the two other years was over .390. At last check he was in his mid-30's, so maybe I should bootup that career to see how much more butt he kicks

I actually did have Ted Williams turn into a monster in a 1953 career (but the reason is based in his stats of .407, 13 HR in 91 at bats). He, Ray Searage, Shane Spencer, Caesar Cedeno, Bob Milacki, Elmer Valo, Earl Moore, Bob Lillis, Todd Haney, and Phil Clark can all EXPLODE in your leagues depending on your import numbers.

Follow up: I've replayed a few of the above seasons and gotten the following results:
Williams: .371, 65 HR, 169 RBI, BOS wins championship. Spencer: .309, 80 HR, 200 RBI, NY wins 121 games & championship. Milacki: 21-10, 2.24 ERA for Baltimore (league's worst team), allowed .149 OAVG.

Create a player, set all his ratings to zero and see what happens....methinks you'll have quite the amusing surprise.
P.S. I got this when I created a fake player to represent a teams draft picks as a reminder at the end of the season.
