The reason for the move is that Andreas (developer of TB) will be the assistant programmer for OOTP:SI, so I need to be in Germany far more often than I initially thought when I moved to London. I will keep a flat in London, and in a couple of months I will be there more often again.

OK, on to the updates. Bugfixing OOTP 6 is almost done, and the AI has been improved. Actually, I found a bug that may be the reason for a lot of strange AI roster moves (releasing allstar caliber players for example). Also, aging/development was revisited, and I am happy with the results so far.

Head to head. Well. I am really frustrated about this. When I started coding H2H before release, the first 50% went really well, but then I found out that the networking library I initially wanted to use didn't work the way I wanted/needed. So I basically had to write networking stuff on my own, and frankly, I had no idea how hard that would be. I will not give up, but I will no longer post a timetable for this feature. So, the next OOTP 6 update/patch will not include H2H. That means it will be released in the very near future.

Once the OOTP 6 update is done, I'll shift my focus to the ITP patch. It'll fix the reported bugs and include a couple of new feaures.

Again, sorry for the lack of updates lately and this H2H disaster. But, I guess I'm human and just made a mistake by vastly underestimating the amount of work/time this feature would take to proper implement it.

CU soon!
Markus
Thanks for the info, Markus. I've had some interaction with Markus about the aging/development issues, and I'm looking forward to seeing the implementation!

Excellent news! (minus h2h, anyway).

PS - how do I get a flat in London? That would be a completely awesome way to get chicks...

Thumbs up More frequent status updates from Markus in the future will be good news.

Good news, except H2H. Thanks for the status update. I too hope you can figure out H2H sometime in the future. I wil be looking forward to the new OOTP update.

Can we get also a status update on the manual, please? Thanks.

Sidenote: I hope this is the sign of more frequent status reports/updates from Markus in the future. If that's true, a big thanks.

Good to see you back Markus!

Do you have "Can't Pinch Run for a DH Bug" still on your radar?

Frustrating when its late in a game to have some Matt Stairs-esqe clone cloggin' up the base paths.

The update is nice, but I'd be careful about saying "Bugfixing OOTP 6 is almost done" because everybody knows that someone will discover SOMETHING somwhere down the line.

But I don't expect a 100% bug-free game. As long as the big things are fixed I'll be happy.

And for everyone who has complained about lack of updates - a couple months ago Markus said he'd have an update out before the playoffs. Maybe I'm the only one that has faith, but I'd be surprised if something was not released within the next two weeks. There may be no H2H in it, but it'll be an update nonetheless.

'CU next year!'

(this is not a knock on Markus's infrequent posts. It is a knock at the play-by-play. Well, not so much a knock as a play on the play-by-play.)

"Bugfixing OOTP 6 is almost done, and the AI has been improved."

All the reported bugs? Woo, I hope so. Good news in any case.

Well, that's two out of five. That still leaves: H2H, manual, and PbP.

It may not be necessary. He has discovered and fixed a bug with the way the AI was evaluating players.

Is this still happening? I haven't attempted to pinch-run for my DH in a while, but I guess I assumed that since the "can't pinch-hit for a DH" bug was fixed, the pinch-running was as well. Dang.

Thanks for the status report.

(taken from an earlier post by jbmagic)
"anyway you can tell us what bugs are fix? can you post a list..

Hope you will make a practice of giving them to us on a regular monthly or quarterly basis...even if it contains things that will disappoint some of us.

Most of us realize you can't do the impossible and appreciate you communicating with us even when you can't take care of all our pet peeves.
Just let us know when it is impossible or improbable to do something.

Also, if you did promise H2H...you need to do something for the ones that wanted it...I am not interested in it, so there is no complaint from me...all I want is all/most of the basic play-by-play results that happen in a normal baseball game.

Don't be a stranger on the board.

Welcome back and Y'all come again real soon, ya hear.
