What is the longest you've simmed a fictional league for history?

I've considered starting a fictional league in 1900 and simming until 1980, and then starting an expansion team from there. I'm not sure about how much space and time of mine this would consume, and I was wondering what everyone does with their fictional leagues and if anyone has done something like this.

I usually make it about 20 years or so before the next version of OOTPB comes out, then I start again. I think there's a limitation to the stats in MM, but that might be for the whole game, i.e. the database runs out after about 50 years or so. You should check threads to find out more precisely.

My advice: back up your league often.

The space issues depend a lot on whether you have the Alamanac active or not.

I've simmed 25 years. That was in OOTP4. Got an historical sim I just started actually, simming 1901-1950 and beyond.

Have no idea how well it will go.

I can't remember what my longest sim was anymore, but it was something like 40 years I think.

I am running a fictional league sim that started in 1901 and will run until 2004. I am in 1915 right now and just started a few days ago. Things are going well. I will be posting the Catobase web site in a few days actually.

I started one league in 1901 went til 1918, had to start a new one because of a glitch.

Started in 1919, it is now 1950, I may play it out til the modern day, it depends on how it goes.

I am up to the second manager too, the first guy I made manager retired in 1947 in his 70s with 2 kids in the majors and 12 World Series Championships.

The second guy, his "nephew", is into his 4th season with 2 World Championships under his belt already AND the starting CF on the team is the older son of the original manager.

That CF had the 1st 30-30 season in my league history.

My first version of OOTP was version 5, which I bought in early April of last year. I began play with the 1901 St Louis Cardinals, and with the exception of simming a part of my first season, I play through every game. Currently
I am in the 1906 season, using version 6, and I plan to continue until either I die or I reach the present-day season.

My longest was a historical league I created on OOTP5. I started in 1901 and made it until 1950 something. I'm not sure on the exact year, but I made it to the 50's. I just got bored with it after that and decided not to play it anymore.

i think its funny that so many responders have posted how long they have run a particular league.

the question is, how long have you simmed FOR HISTORY?

Depends on how many teams are in the league, how many games you're playing a season, if you're simming all the games or playing some.

I simmed for history for 100 years, 1903-2003. I adjusted league totals to give me some eras along the way. I was pretty circumspect about following the league until 1990, when "I" turned six. As "I" grew up, I payed fairly close attention to one team, because "I" grew up nearby. As "I" grew older, into "my" teens, I started to pay more attention to the rest of the league, recognizing the stars and the dominant teams. This process took about 20 r/t days, at 7 seasons a day until "I" came of age and I started paying attention the reports, pennet chases, stars, et al. "I" entered the draft in 2004 at age 19 as an uber-prospect SP and was drafted 4th overall. I took over "my" new franchise, and have been playing out (almost) every game. It's now 2011. "My" development has been a bit slow, and "I'm" in "my" first full year as a big-leaguer. Not doing too bad, but "I've" got a great club behind "me."

I never sim for history, one of the best parts of a new league is a fresh record book.
