if you start a custom league, is there a way to NOT have an initial draft and just play with the players on their default rosters?

yes create a custom league and pick default players instead of fictional....

There are several ways. Here are two simple ones:

Start a league with no players and have the game fill up the minors.

Have the draft, then reset the league and wipe out the LEAGUE_NEWS_BOX folder.

There are other, much more complicated ways, too.

ok, here's exactly what i'm trying to do.

I want to have a manager mode league with only about 60 games so that i can play them, but not have to play 162 each year. This is all i want to change, and i want all the default players on their default teams (i.e. pujols on cards, sammy on cubs, etc.).

Just take the league, go into league setup, then edit sked and generate a new one the length you want, then begin MM and you should be set.

You don't need to make a custom league. You just need to use a roster set and do what Steve said.

You only really have to do it once, though you could make a new schedule each year if you wanted to.
