Upgrade from V5 to V6 worth it?

I'm happy with OOTP5 and my solo league I have built, kinda nervous about importing it to V6, and would probably just start a new V6 league.

Is OOTP6 significantly better than OOTP5? I am going to download either

OOTP6
TBCB Boxing or
SI's CM soccer manager

Just trying to decide if i should get OOTP6 because it is much better, or try one of those other 2 games I have never played any version of.

I think OOTP6 is definitely a step up, but I'd have to consider having OOTP5 and TBCB instead of OOTP6. TBCB is a great game.

I would reccommend doing it. 40 man rosters, rule 5 drafts, etc make the game more enjoyable.

Despite some minor blemishes, OOTP6 is still great in my opinion. It's a good step above OOTP5.

DO NOT BUY TBCB!!! That has to be the most bug filled game on the market and the customer support is ZERO. People complain about OOTP not listening and putting out a product before it is ready but they don't know real trouble until they play TBCB. I would go with OOTP6 and leave the headaches of TBCB for someone else to deal with.

Good luck!

Are you sure it's TBCB? I hadn't heard anything like this about the boxing game.

This is either an attempt at humor (that fails), a case of mistaken identity, or a pack of lies.

Title Bout Championship Boxing (TBCB) is one of the finest games that this most finicky of gameplayers has ever played.

The bug level is and has been next to nothing and the support is among the finest I have ever seen. I don't want to get into comparing (which I guess I am), but the support for TBCB is 736,231 times better than OOTP.

TBCB was excellent out of the box and they have provided timely patches to fix the few small bugs plus add some features in response to their customer base.

The group that populates the TBCB board is the most helpful I have ever seen in Internetland. There are no smears, no putdowns, no flaming (okay, a little but we kill those people), and just helpful comments.

I personally don't think (since you asked) that V6 is worth the money. If you have any interest in boxing I would give TBCB a shot (3 or 7-day free trial, I can't remember which), or just hold on to your money. Or download OOTP6 and try it. I believe it also has a 3 or 7 day free trial.

The defense rests.

I don't know anything about the two non ootp games. However, I only use OOTP6 for online league exporting and no plans to convert my online league.

I am thinking about upgrading as well. Don't see it happening unless the price drops.

If it were just a case of whether to upgrade to OOTP6 or stay with OOTP5, I'd suggest upgrading to OOTP6.

But since it's a case of upgrading OR buying a different game, I'd go with a different game. Simply because you can still enjoy the OOTP experience with version 5, but also play a new game.

I personally love CM, know nothing about TB, and hear wonderful thngs about CM. CM, from what I understand, is getting a new version in the fairly near future so I'd hold out until that's released (I think the new version is going to be called Football Manager). Because I can't endorse something I don't know about (TB), that leaves a yes or no for OOTP6. Yes. Yes, yes, and yes again. Everybody who feels differently has every right to express their own opionion, but I've found that many of the people who complain about the game do so at least partially from disappointment. They were expecting more than was able to be delivered at release, hence their feelings. The fact that I'd still say that it's worth buying despite its shortcomings should at least say something.

Exactly what that something is, I'll leave up to you to decide (ps - I haven't had Cool-Aid in about 20 years)

after playing OOTP6 for about 2 hours I could not wait to get 5 off of my HD. I didn't open 5 for any reason except to export for on-line leagues that hadn't converted yet. The minute the last of my leagues switched I deleted the dinosaur that is OOTP5 . Make the switch.

TB- is a good game that i couldn't get into, maybe if/when they get a career mode.

CM- unless you are a soccer, or a serious asset manager game freak its option overload. It couldn't hold my intrest long enough to figure out how to play.

hey, why not try the demos

Some say the galss is half full. Others say the glass is half empty. I say the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

The correct answer is to do what I do: either earn more money, or save money by getting rid of something else in life. Then buy all the video games. You will be happier, because you won't get all that "Dang, if only I had bought that game XXX. "

To economize, I have invented a new meal. It's called "Brelupper". It's a combination of breakfast, lunch and supper. By eliminating two meals out of each day, not only do you save up money for games, but you also save TIME to play games as well. Crackers with soft things spread on them make for an excellent Brelupper entree -- cheap, efficient, and often fairly colorful.

I'm pretty close to feeling the exact same way.

TBCB: if you add career mode to what is already there and it will rival any sports sim as my favorite.

CM- I've heard about this game for a long time and almost all of it good. My problems with it all bases from my almost complete ignorance of the sport of soccer (ehem European Football....).

For me personally...OOTP 6 has gotten me back into playing solo a lot more. I was exclusively a solo league guy in OOTP 3 and 4. I'm not sure what it was about OOTP 5 but I never connected to it in the same way as the earlier versions. Converting from OOTP 5 to OOTP 6 has been a royal pain but all my leagues I've started fresh in OOTP 6 have been great.

1 thing to keep in mind is that people find tweaks all the time to make 6 better. So as time goes on 6 becomes more and more stable.

The available features in 6 just make the game that much more.
