Good story, and thanks for the link.
It makes you wonder, though. There wouldn't have been any need for a comeback if he had just done what Montreal asked him to do. But, no - instead of going down to the minors, he went ballistic. I wonder how much money that fit of pride and anger cost him?

If you like good comeback stories, don't forget the story of ex-pitcher Norm Bass of the A's, who went on to play in the NFL and then came back much later in a totally different sport in his old age.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/par...s_tabletennis/ On a personal level I saw a great comeback last year. One of my elderly relatives had congestive heart failure and pneumonia. As if that wasn't enough, a quarter of his brain cavity had filled up with blood, badly compressing his brain. After they cut a hole in his skull to let the blood out he woke up, grabbed my hand, and said, "I'm not through yet." And he wasn't. He beat it all, came back, watched his favorite granddaughter graduate from college and managed another full year and a half of life before something snuck up on him when he wasn't looking. One of my elderly neighbors was told in 1980 that he would be dead in a year. He didn't believe his doctors and started walking. They reissued his doom every year and he still kept walking. Finally he gave up on the doctors. I drove down his street the other day. He must be close to 100, and guess what he was out in the road on a summer day doing? Walking.
