I am getting this when I try to launch the game?

Go into the “game”(OOTP, ITP, etc) folder and open the "game config" file, toggle the 3d setting, close those things and try the game again.

the text is almost unreadable now. Game will boot but text is very bad. I have downloaded new version of direct x. Running wind 98 128 mb of ram

Make sure you are running the game in 1024x768 screen resolution.

Steve, my OOTP6 file has the OOTP5 game config file with ouly 2 options: Disable direct 3D and disable sound. I sthere supposed to be an ootp6 config file with more than 2 options?

I know where to look, but the file in the ootp 6 folder says OOTP5 configuration when I run it and it only has the 2 options I said above, not 3. You told the guy above to toggle the 3rd setting and I don't have a 3rd setting in the file I have.

Click Disable Direct3D. That's what he meant, not the 3rd option.

Hi all, I just got this error as well. No problems fixing it with these settings.

My question though is about why it is saying this error? I ran OOTP6 fine before I formatted my hard drive a few weeks ago. I thought I brought back all the stuff I needed but I guess not. I'm wondering if this is a display problem or what and how I may be able to fix it? I downloaded DriectX 9.0 but this didn't solve the problem.

can you have play this game and have a readable display at less than 1024*768? i got a hold of a PII laptop and i think the display has a native 800*600 mode...

Did you change the 3D setting since reinstalling?

In some cases it is possible to run the game at that resolution it just depends on the display and video card.

i tried both enabled/disabled. it seems to work size-wise without 3d, but with really poor resolution (hard to read text)...
