Fan Interest

I have a fan interest of 100 and I have not been able to get it to go any higher. I am currently in first place by 12.5 games and my winning percentage is .640. I have also scheduled several promotion days that my team has won on. I have received the emails stating that we had a bump in fan interest but, I am still locked at 100. Is that the highest it will go with version 6? Is it a complete waste of time to use the promotion days when your fan interest is at 100?

I'm pretty sure it's a 1-100 scale meaning it's not going to go any higher.

According to some people, when you win on a promo day, your fan interest rises to 101 for one day and then falls again to 100. Your fan interest isn't supposed to go over 100, essentially.

I do not know about v6, but in v5 you could get it to 101 although it does drop right away. As stated, you win on a promo day, get the lucky email (the bump is not guaranteed when you win on the promo day), if you look at your FI before you sim any more games it will be 101. I never tracked how fast it dropped, but it will drop nearly right away.

Only if you sell out the game while charging $20 a seat. But if you are selling out all your games and don't raise your prices for the promotion days then Yes it is a waste.

Once I hit 100, I no longer use promotion days.

I've peaked at 101 in OOTP6 a couple of times. I kept a screen shot of the first time it happened. But as mentioned, it only lasts a day or so.

Yeah, I've had the same experience as others.

I adjust my ticket prices so that I sell out 30% promo days, and not quite sell out non-promo days. That way I still get max income for my promo dollar. I mean, do the math. Selling out 32,500 seats at $12 gets you $360,000. Selling 29,000 seats non-promo at $13 gets you $377,000. You'd have to sell less than 27,692 at $13 to make less than a $12 sellout, and that's not gonna happen too often. Then, add promo days for 32,500 seats at $13 for $422,500 and watch the cash roll in ....

But yes, if you're selling out every home game and your fan interest is already 100, you're wasting every promo dollar you spend.

I still schedule promo days even if it isn't financially responsible to do so. I figure that I have to reward my fans.

My fans are all simulated meat puppets. If I could run the team without them, I would. I never give them promotions. Ever. I don't even have the front office send the season ticket holders Christmas cards. More money for me!!

I feel the same way. IRL, you would be under pressure to put on fan promos especially if everyone else did it, even if the team was successful. Otherwise, you'd get a reputation as a skinflint.

Nevertheless, I go with the cheapest and only one or two a month, with the Retro promo in late July.

It's a little-documented feature, but the game actually reads the posts you make here. The next time you open up OOTP, you'll be amazed to see that your fan interest has dropped dramatically!

That rated a smiley. Too bad I don't believe in smileys, either.

But seriously, if the game and the developers followed the advise of all my posts, Anna Kournikova should be ringing my doorbell and offering to have me massage her body all over with a warm, gooey triple-layer chocolate cake. Instead, all I get around here are the type of --

-- wait a minute, I've got to go get that, there's someone at the door...
