NPBL 2008 champ: New York Barons

The New York Barons have won the NPBL 2008 National Cup! Congratulations to GM Christopher Ferrante; he is a charter owner in the league who came in with a plan, and he’s finally seen its fruition; the Barons are the most powerful team in the league, and this championship ends a string of playoff heartbreaks; the team swept through the postseason with an 11-1 record, equaling the dominating performance of their division rival Pennsylvania nine years earlier. The new NPBL champs beat the Illinois Jethawks four games to none.

The NPBL will soon begin its tenth season.

Congratulations New York. It's hard to believe this was your first championship. It seems like you've been beating me 20 times a season for almost forever.

It's pretty cool Satchel that both your leagues have a champion around the same time. Do you set your sim schedule up so your leagues are identical date wise?

It was a coincidence that the two leagues ended on the same night. They were just a couple of weeks apart all season, the JL behind the NPBL, then when the playoffs started, I was simming as soon as the teams got their files in, so the JL caught up with the NPBL (fewer teams, so fewer files, so they came in more quickly; plus the JL season is a week shorter, 154 games versus 162, so it got a bump that way too). They’ll eventually spread apart again, though they’ll run parallel for about another week or two.

Any chance of your two leagues having their champions square off

openings

Epaul, the NPBL is full right now, I’m sorry we don’t have a place for you at the current time. We’d be happy to put you on the waiting list, it’s empty now so you’d be first in line if a team opened. It’s difficult to predict when we’ll need someone, so I can’t give you a time estimate on when you could expect to take over a club. It could be sooner, or later. I appreciate your interest. Drop me an email: jberry at mm.st, or email our recruiter Bill: wshaible0247 at wowway.com, if you have any more questions or want us to notify you if we have a vacancy.
