Jeff Salazar, CF, earns 1st win before 1st hit
about 1/3 thru my 1st season w/ CBL 2 rosters, I just randomly noticed these career stats for Jeff Salazar, Colorado's 3-star CF prospect(on waivers): batting: G:5 AB:0 H:0 pitching: 1.0 IP, 1 win. I checked the box scores, and he came on in extra innings after they ran out of relievers and retired the side in order. pretty cool.

He should point that out in his arbitration hearings.

That's interesting.
I thought the AI teams won't do that. I've had a blow-out game against an AI team in which the AI team let Jason Isringhausen (it's closer) throw more than 100 pitches because its other relievers were either used or tired. At that moment, I thought the AI team should have used its bench hitters to eat the remaining innings since the game was basically hopeless. On the other hand, I personally used a hitter to pitch after that and found a problem: the hitter gets "tired" after his first pitch. Since that bench player was a important pinch runner for me, I was afraid that he would get injured, so I replaced him with a real pitcher immediately. BTW, Isringhausen was injured and out for 8 or 10 weeks a couple days later. |

He came on in the top of the 12th(they won in the bottom) in relief of steve reed, who had pitched 2 innings. most of their other relievers had only pitched around an inning or less.

On the other hand, I'm hoping that we are allowed to change a position player, who is already in the lineup, from his current position to the mound. I've had a reliever who can also play LF. So one day, I rested my regular LF and started him there. I planned to bring him to the mound if necessary. It turned out I couldn't do that because 'P' isn't among the options if you want to change a player's position once he's already in the lineup. |
