Post Ok here is the very reason I bought this game over others...(trading fun!)

I am into my second season in a single player fictional league and am in love with this game! When I read about the fictional players and development system and that you couldn't predict with 100% accuracy how a player would turn out or perform in a season I knew I had to buy it. I still wish their was more variety and changes (a horrible rated player becoming a star or a gem tanking, some players developing really young (most seem to be ready at 26), music/sound etc.) but the following example is the type of thing I have been dieing for:

I had an extra outfielder so I decided to trade him for bullpen help. The Padres had a decent reliever making similar money so I proposed we talk and realized I could get a bit more from them than just this player. Looking through their system I noticed two average players in positions I was weak at and got them to include them in the trade hoping they may serve as back up players for injuries one days (they wouldn't part with the good prospects). I didn't even care about these players but figured why not get what I can from them.

Now a season later the original pitcher is performing as expected and I would have been happy with just him. The two other players have much better outlooks though! The one "average" reliever is now also in my bullpen and has becoming a "good" reliever (with stats to back it) and the "average" third baseman is suddenly a top prospect! The 3b is the one I am most excited about as I am very weak in this area and only took him because he had a B for defense. Now he looks like a great hitter too!

Of course they could still end up following the original scouting reports but the whole uncertainty of it all makes it exciting to sim out!

Man I love that!

It's not so much that I seem to have won the trade that I enjoyed, but the fact this stuff can even happen. I also like how the AI doesn't easily part with prospects. That was my biggest fear for this game, that trading would be too skewed one way or the other (either they only go for trades that are highly in their favour to compensate for a weak AI or they trade easily allowing player's to strip them of prospects). The way this game is it almost feels like I am dealing with another human. I have yet to see them make an idiotic deal.
