Getting Fired...

I just got fired after 3 years of coaching the same team to pitiful records. I agree I should have been fired, but the next year I was offered a contract by two of the best teams in the league (my manager rating is"bad manager"), seems kind of odd.

Has this happened to anyone else?

The Yankees made this work with Casey Stengel and Joe Torre.

Getting Fired

I have a fictional Japanese league currently in 1896. I am the manager of the Chiba Lotte Marines. Now, the only directive from the owner was that I don't come in last. The problem was that I had drafted for the future and did come in last. I was fired at the end of the season.

This is my first try at the manager mode and was surprised when Chiba Lotte was on the list of four teams offering me a job. I took it, because I want to see how those players I drafted play out.

Maybe they went through the interview process and couldn't find anyone they liked who was willing to work for them.

I like when that happens. Again and again and again...

Sincerely,

Billy Martin is a rare case and he also played with the Yankees for many many seasons. He had a history with the team and a friendship with the owner. He also was a proven championship manager.

It's been 2 years since Manager Mode was added to the game, and will possibly be enhanced as part of V7:SI.

Steinbrenner is also not a computer program. Go figure.

I finished my first season in 3rd 79-83, after contending until the all-star break. The owner gave me the same line of not finishing last. I doubled my payroll and I started out the season 1-6. Looks like I'm heading to the unemployment line in fantasy land too.
